does anyone drive a class 8 truck with out a cdl?

According to this I would be legal up to 26,000 GVWR with a class C license. I am just starting my research so I'm not sure. Almost positive I won't have air brakes for an RV.

One thing for many to consider for a toter is a MDT with hydraulic disk brakes instead of air. International has built trucks this way for years and many others. just something to think about

What is the advantage of hydraulic brakes? I thought air was better?

Bob in those few places where air brakes are required to have a air brake endorsment you wouldn't need it. But hydraulic disc brakes are only on class 6 and few class 7's My T300 has Hydraulic disc brakes. so as long as the weight is under 26,000 then no CDL is required. And it is currently commercial as it gets. Just offering options for folks to think about.

I've spent plenty of time driving mdt's over the years with both air brakes and hydraulic disc brakes. Yes, the air brakes stop better. No, you don't really need them at that weight. My trailer fully loaded behind my GMC C6500 stops just fine with disc brakes at 34000# total weight. Nothing against air brakes, everything else being equal including the price, I'd go for the air brakes. But not a deal breaker. And assuming a legitimately titled RV, legality of air brakes will not be an issue. Every "big rig" pusher diesel RV out there has air brakes, and you can drive it off the lot and all over the country with an ordinary drivers license and nobody will bother you.

Yes, if it's licensed as an rv you're good to go with air brakes. I like the air brakes on my truck.
