Last year, we took our first trip after upgrading the rear bumper, carrying 2 kayaks and a cargo basket off of the new bumper.
The goose neck adapter is adjustable in 1" increments...
On the ride to the campground, I had the ball height set where I always towed, even before...
Assuming the truck is capable of handling it, is there anything wrong with having tongue weight on the higher end of things? I know that having too much weight in the back can cause sway; assuming the truck can handle it is there a similar danger in having tongue weight at 15% or even a bit...
I've got a 2006 Wildwood, dry weight of 4730, gross 7530. I'm pulling it with a 92 Chevy Silverado C1500 with a maximum pull weight of 6200. The truck has a 305 (5.0) with 3:43 gears, automatic transmission with over 200,000 on it. I drive about 60-65 MPH in drive, Not OD. Trailer has very...
Does anyone have / use a tongue weight scale? Do you like it? Do you have a brand you'd recommend?
It's really impractical for me to take my rig out to get the whole thing weighed, and the way it's set up I think it's possible that my tongue weight may be varying by a lot, depending on how I...
I recently ordered a 2022 Rockwood 2506s and have been following hitch weight discussions for this trailer. The FR spec sheet for the 2022 shows 814lb hitch but dealers are listing it at approx. 645lb hitch. Last years 2021 Rockwood 2506 is also listed at approx. 645lb hitch. A previous forum...
Hi all!
I recently purchased a 2008 Sequoia Limited 4x2 with a max tow capacity of 9500. She's a beast and we love her! She towed our Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2306 great, although it was only 3500lbs dry with a 430lb tongue weight. And we did use a weight distributing hitch.
I'm looking...
Good evening!
I got a question and hopefully someone has an answer.
I purchased a 2015 Rockwood Roo 21 BD. Does anyone have one or similar and know the actual tongue weight? I don't ever put anything on the storage rack but online mentions it being 675. I'm afraid it might actually be more...
My 2021 2506S has a hitch weight of 644#. The 2022 lists as 810#. The 2516S has a 810# hitch weight in 2021 and is listed as 722# in 2022. What change was made to change the hitch weights?
FYI, we just got new Michelin tires installed, on our Isata 5 30FW, and the tire shop placed balancing beads into the tires, instead of rim weights.
Yesterday one of the tires needed to be inflated to get to the desired pressure. Once inflated and the hose removed the valve stem did not close...
Thank you for letting me join your forum. I have a 2019 Coachman Clipper 17 FQS travel trailer. I would like to mount a carrier on the back that will carry my trail bike that weighs about 200 lbs. I am very concerned with mounting it on the sewer hose storage tube. Short of have something new...
Looking to get some input on my concern about tongue weight and the need for weight distribution hitch. At some point I plan to get a tongue weight scale or go to a CAT scale but right now I'm using the winter to determine some things so I don't have batteries, solar picked out, trailer loaded...
I recently replaced my 2013 GMC 1500 with a 2021 GMC 2500HD, with the intention of stepping up from a bumper pull toy hauler to a 5th wheel toy hauler.
Here's where things are interesting, and I could use some opinions:
From the door labels:
GVWR: 11300
GCWR 26000
RGAWR 6600
FGAWR 5600...
For the past 15 years I have been towing a 24' trailer with my 1500 Chevy, GMC or Dodge Ram which have a class 3 tow hitch with an allowed tongue weight of 500 lb. I have just purchased a 2007 Forest River 27' trailer which weighs more than my previous trailer. Now for my question: If my new...
As an exercise to baseline our trailer's weight, we emptied it of everything not attached. We are now going cabinet-by-cabinet weighing what we put in. We are working to avoid the dreaded weight creep after 2-1/2 years.
Total "emptied" trailer weight on CAT scales is 4200 lbs. Fresh, gray, and...
Where in the hell do I find information on how much weight i can add to the dry weight of my 2004 21 shamrock without fear of having any issues? I would think there should be a sticker somewhere. Finding information online is stupid.
I have my new Carlisle tires and and new spare and rim. I...
I am considering adding a goalpost type hitch to support an 80lbs kayak, as in the attachment. I have a new BakFlip MX4 bed cover and a compatible ladder mount looks weak and is expensive.
There are extra mounting holes on the top of the Reece weight distribution Pintle receiver hitch. The...
Does anyone know how much weight the roof of a 26dbh can hold? I'm a large guy and would hate to step up on top and fall right through the roof. :roflblack:
I took the opportunity to weigh my coach yesterday after replacing the tires. The coach was fully loaded with driver, full of fuel and water. I was surprised how close the coach was to the 14,500 GVWR. His coach is relatively small compared to some, but does have three slides. This has me...
What's the best (and correct) way to put more weight on the tow vehicle's front axle with an Equalizer hitch? Washers in the head, or moving the l-brackets up?
Thanks!
While sitting around a fire, two 5th wheel owners were discussing what vehicle was needed for what 5th wheel GVW. Full ton, 3/4 ton, dually, diesel, gas etc
Both said that due to the fact that the pin weight was in and on the truck, it could be subtracted from the 5'ers weight.
(ie a 14k 5'er...
Put new tires on our CC34RL2 in May of this year then left for a long 3+ month trip - roughly 9300 miles. Upon returning, inspected then did some routine maintenance - slide lube, ex-flex and bearing lube, etc... While inspecting the underside of the unit, noticed that the kitchen side rear...
Sorry if asked before, is the hitch weight advertised on TT's the dry hitch weight? If so when calculating the correct hitch weight take the loaded trailer (wet, cargo) plus the dry trailer weight and take the safe 14% calculation to get a true hitch weight?
Thanks... Narrowing down some...
Loaded up I'm guessing about 1200 lbs +, but still just a guess. I Cat scaled and got gross weight of 15,700 with an unloaded 7000 lb. truck only weight.
Truck scale was busy. Didn't get chance to get another weigh in..
Thanks
