    Brakes replacement

I have a 2015 Rockwood Signature Ultra-lite. Checking my wheels bearings I decided to check on my brakes. Well, they are pretty bad. Any suggestions? Replace it with the same type? Upgrade? Any advice? Thanks

Ram light and heavy electric trailer brakes

I just bought a new '18 Ram 2500 with the factory Integrated Trailer Brake Controller. I am trying to set up the trailer brake gain on my travel trailer and I am unable to select "heavy electric" through the steering wheel switches. I pull up the towing menu on the dash display and it defaults...

    X23b Brake controller setting

Hello, I have a new 2018 Jayco X23b that I’ve towed a couple of times now with my 2013 Expedition EL 4x4 with the integrated brake controller. When setting the gain, I’m all the way at 10.0 (max setting) with the trailer slowing fairly aggressively, but I still can’t get the trailer tires to...

    Wiring into hub brakes

Was checking underneath for road damage and spotted a wire hanging. Where 3 wires are joined into some sort of connector, one was pulled out. I can not figure out how to open this connector to see how the wires are mated. Anybody ever opened one of these ??? Thanks Larry

    Best tires

So, tomorrow I pick up my new (to me) 1983 16 foot funlite. Looking at the original specs from the brochure, I see that it originally came with B-78-13 STC tires which are now a 175/80-13. The dry weight is 2K Lbs (can't find the GVW anywhere). The previous owner (or the one prior to him) has...

Toad brakes only work with toad key turned on

OK, a new problem has arisen. All brake lights on my Toad, 2006 jeep liberty 4x4, work with the jeep key turned on. But none work with key turned off. Toad brakes work when RV brakes applied but no dash indicator light to tell me they're working, and no brake lights on toad unless key is turned...

Time to ask for help, tt brakes

Ok, it's time to ask for help. Our 2015 Rockwood 2604WS had been experiencing the lack of brakes. The first problem from day one was the total lack of trailer brakes that was traced to a broken ground stud in one of the frame junction boxes. That restored braking effort as indicated by...

    When to check RV brakes

So I'm going into season 4 with my 3011 RV. Since I just changed my toad I began to wonder how long the front/rear brakes on the RV will last? I've got almost 16K on the RV and almost all of it has been driven while towing a car. I would think that towing a vehicle will wear the brakes faster...

Will my New Dexter Brakes self adjust?

It would appears as if my Dexter brakes on my Rockwood Fifth-wheel failed. I had new ones installed ($2400!!!) and the technician told me that they would self adjust overtime as the finish wears off. I am a little concerned because I am going on a long trip...Is this true??

New Blue Ox Patriot II system locks up brakes

So after driving off from my RV dealer where I purchased the unit with TOAD in tow, my wife (who was driving her car behind me) calls me and says the brake lights are lit up on our CRV (as I'm traveling along.) I have gone about two blocks then hop out at a light to discover that the brake...

    Freightliner Air Brakes

Motorhome Magazine had an interesting article on air brakes from the June issue. I learned a fair amount since this is only my 2nd vehicle with air brakes. It did lead to a few questions. 1. It recommends replacing the air dryer filter per the RV’s maintenance schedule, any idea when that is...

Electronic Sway Control System for Electric Trailer Brakes

Hello all, I getting ready to go from permanently parked in my fiver to full time RVing. I've been do a lot of research and seeing that a fiver doesn't sway (i'm sure it does to an extent) it's the travel trailers that could have a lot of sway depending on conditions. I'm looking at a kit, link...

New Owner 2014 Jayco Jayflight FB22

I just recently purchased a 2014 Jayco Jayflight FB22 from a friend who was the original owner. The trailer was hardly used and in great condition. However, it did sit for a while and was not covered so I spent a good month going over it top to bottom, front to back cleaning and inspecting for...

3 more reasons to inspect your brakes

I decided to pull the wheels and inspect my brakes instead of just greasing the wheel bearings with the easy lube zerk fitting. Glad I did, here is what was inside one of the brake drums. Could have been real bad if the sheared off bolt had jammed and caused the wheel to lock up.

    Squeaky Brakes

I have a 2015 GT 351DS with about 15K miles on it and the brakes are squeaking. Anyone else have this issue. Just curious if I need to be concerned & take it in? With only 15k miles I wouldn’t think the brakes need replacing???

    Electronic Trailer Brake Controller

Hi, folks, Thought I would install an electronic trailer brake controller in our 2018 Forest River Georgetown (30X3)(Ford Chassis). I looked under the dash where the plug was supposed to be and only found a small bundle of 4 or 5 wires that were taped up on the end. Think maybe these are the...
