    Precision Disc Brakes

For those of you who have put disc brakes on your unit, is there an actual Precision Brakes store? We were trying to figure out where we could have disc brakes installed on our fifth wheel that is reasonably near us. ~ Teresa

    Self adjusting brakes??

Hey gang, I have a 2014 Salem 29ud3 travel trailer. I went to adjust the brakes for an upcoming road trip but when I removed the rubber slot covers I can't find the adjustment wheel. I then went to another wheel before I took the hubs off to inspect and it was the same set up, as in no adjusting...

Issues with brakes – At my wits end

For starters, here is the information on my 5th wheel. Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8288ws. The axles are an AL-KO U-40. (see 1st pic) The beginning of this season I noticed that a higher setting on my controller was needed to have sufficient brakes applied when stopping. Then, on the last...

I just bought a new '18 Ram 2500 with the factory Integrated Trailer Brake Controller. I am trying to set up the trailer brake gain on my travel trailer and I am unable to select "heavy electric" through the steering wheel switches. I pull up the towing menu on the dash display and it defaults...

    Wiring into hub brakes

Was checking underneath for road damage and spotted a wire hanging. Where 3 wires are joined into some sort of connector, one was pulled out. I can not figure out how to open this connector to see how the wires are mated. Anybody ever opened one of these ??? Thanks Larry

    Best tires

So, tomorrow I pick up my new (to me) 1983 16 foot funlite. Looking at the original specs from the brochure, I see that it originally came with B-78-13 STC tires which are now a 175/80-13. The dry weight is 2K Lbs (can't find the GVW anywhere). The previous owner (or the one prior to him) has...

OK, a new problem has arisen. All brake lights on my Toad, 2006 jeep liberty 4x4, work with the jeep key turned on. But none work with key turned off. Time to ask for help, tt brakes

Ok, it's time to ask for help. Our 2015 Rockwood 2604WS had been experiencing the lack of brakes. The first problem from day one was the total lack of trailer brakes that was traced to a broken ground stud in one of the frame junction boxes. That restored braking effort as indicated by...

    When to check RV brakes

So I'm going into season 4 with my 3011 RV. Since I just changed my toad I began to wonder how long the front/rear brakes on the RV will last? I've got almost 16K on the RV and almost all of it has been driven while towing a car. I would think that towing a vehicle will wear the brakes faster...

Will my New Dexter Brakes self adjust?

It would appears as if my Dexter brakes on my Rockwood Fifth-wheel failed. I had new ones installed ($2400!!!) and the technician told me that they would self adjust overtime as the finish wears off. I am a little concerned because I am going on a long trip...Is this true??

So after driving off from my RV dealer where I purchased the unit with TOAD in tow, my wife (who was driving her car behind me) calls me and says the brake lights are lit up on our CRV (as I'm traveling along.) I have gone about two blocks then hop out at a light to discover that the brake...

    Freightliner Air Brakes

Motorhome Magazine had an interesting article on air brakes from the June issue. I learned a fair amount since this is only my 2nd vehicle with air brakes. It did lead to a few questions. 1. It recommends replacing the air dryer filter per the RV’s maintenance schedule, any idea when that is...

Hello all, I getting ready to go from permanently parked in my fiver to full time RVing. 3 more reasons to inspect your brakes

I decided to pull the wheels and inspect my brakes instead of just greasing the wheel bearings with the easy lube zerk fitting. Glad I did, here is what was inside one of the brake drums. Could have been real bad if the sheared off bolt had jammed and caused the wheel to lock up.
