I've a 2014 XLR 415amp I purchased used last year. I'm taking it to Colorado so I want the brakes to be in good shape. The first wheel I removed the rear seal allowed grease to foul the shoes. I see from the archives this is a known problem. I'll replace the seal with a recommended NAPA part but...
While recently greasing my wheel bearings on my Wildcat MAXX, I found one of the seals had leaked and there is grease on the brake magnet and the drum surface it contacts with. Can I simply (carefully) clean the drum surface and the magnet with brake cleaner or (?) and reassemble? Is not, what...
I'm happy, but my wallet won't be, that it is time for new brakes on the truck. At slow speeds, the current brakes have squealed and it's soooooooo annoying; especially when driving through a campground.
Any particular types of brakes or brands or whatever that will help minimize the squeal...
I would like to throw a concept out there that might be helpful to new Grand Design owners as well as owners that have had their rigs for awhile or buying used.
SITE Admins: Your input on this is important because you know what can and can't be done. I know it can be done but not sure if this...
The brakes on both the TT and the dump trailer are very grabby when initially heading out then back to normal after a couple stops. This is with the controller in the truck at its lowest setting.
It's not a big deal (so far) just curious what causes this. Thanks!
Lightly used Tekonsha Prodigy P3 break controller. This was pulled out of my Tundra that was totaled out with the recent hail in the North Texas area. I purchased a truck with an integrated controller, so I no longer need this. No issues and works great. I am asking $95 and will include USPS...
Getting ready for the season, doing wheel bearings and brake adjust/replacement. My question is the thickness of the brake material on the shoes. Mine are evenly worn, drum is smooth and everything looks good but the material is 1/8 to 3/16 thick. Anybody know what the Al-KO 10 inch brake...
The hard lines on the psd have been leaking due to rust out issues with the steel oem lines.I have spliced pieces into them now for 3 years at the rate of one per year! Last year I replaced all the hoses and the hard ling that runs across the rear axel.Last week the abs came on and of course...
I have not noticed the exhaust brake kick in when you exceed the cruise control speed going down hill. Do you drive with it on while using the cruise control?

Got about 7500 miles on all new brakes on or Card. Getting ready to go again, probably nmt 700 miles this time. Wondering IF I should adjust the brakes and how the easiest means of accomplishing that adjustment?
Thanks,
Wanderer
So I gathered up my 8 ton bottle jack, wood cribbing, and some hand tools and went over by my TT in storage. I am wanting to get my brakes adjusted since I have almost 5K miles on the TT and have never checked them. Book recommends 200 miles and every 3000 thereafter.
My attempt to jack up the...
We all check our axles on the TT or 5th wheel but how often do you check your TV's brakes pads and rotors, like most when they start making nosy.
I may be over board but I replace my TV brake pads when the RV comes out of storage. Check the rotors to make sure they are not grooved or have...
I'm curious what other Ford tow vehicles stock brake controller gain setting is on their respective coachman trailers. Here's my data:
2012 F350 SRW
2014 360IBL
Gain 9.0
I'm happy with the braking force, but I don't have much room to increase.
Just wanted to share an issue I had with my 5er trailer brakes. We went camping for the first time this season a few weeks ago. On the way camping then, a message showed up saying "trailer brakes not connected" then it said "trailer connected. I had no other issues. I decided to pull my 5er out...
Does anyone driving a Berk or Charleston drive all the time with their engine brake on? I have been doing it since I got the unit last summer and like the fact that it controls my braking better but I also wonder if I am losing gas mileage because of it. I can't seem to break the 10mpg ceiling...
randomly after braking, I notice the TT brakes(stock) are still engaged. I notice the brake controller(P3) is engaged. I tap the pedal and they dis engage. I am thinking it's not the controller since I have replaced it. Is it the brake switch on the TV? Brakes on the TT?
Hi all,
I bought a 2006 Cherokee 23DD last year used in good shape. I noticed the brakes were not up to par on the few trips I towed it. Even with my settings maxed out on my controller, if I slide the manual engagement it doesn't brake that hard. I want to remedy this before the season starts...

Is there a way to determan the size of my brake shoes. We have a 2010 Coachman 5th wheel with 7000# axles . Are they 7"or 10" can I measure the pads.
Noticed today while taking my rig out to get gas that I have both front brakes beginning to squeal when coming to a stop. As stated in the subject line I have 1649 miles. Put on about 25 miles today and noticed that it didn't go away either.
I know my dealer won't work on these kind of things...
