Has anyone done this? I am thinking why build a conversion when I could just weld my 30' tt onto a frame or flatbed and walah.

Hey Tom-

Forget the flatbed, and DON'T weld to the frame; use U-bolts as if you were bolting a van body down to it. That way you allow for any flexing that WILL happen. Welding will put things in a bind.
Just use what ever steel is needed to mate the trailer frame to the truck frame, and you'll have it. Does this help you?
