So we just put 3700 miles on the Rengade, only stayed in a RV part 2 nights,
1 night at a fairground, the rest of the time in the parking lot of the next place we were going to tour or the local Walmart. Got a door knock in Longmont, the police were going to make about 5 of us leave but it was 11:30 and then decided to let us stay.....Check with Walmart and they didnt have a problem with us....they told me it was a ordiance. They were nice I was nice, slept good and left the next day.

So travel in Colorado was not bad for the heat, but coming home the back got up to 93 deg and was hard to cool down, so what does everyone do about travel and the heat in the back? I dont thing I want to run the Gen all the time going down the road.

All WalMarts are RV friendly, except where local ordinance prohibits it. Usually in touristy type places where the local campgrounds raised heck with the city fathers because they think they are losing money.

There is an AllStays iphone app for WalMart camping that will tell you which ones allow camping and automatically show you the closest and and give you directions. Really nice rolling down the highway when you are wondering how far down the road the next walmart is.

I have some apps for walmarts, I use Truckers Path mainly. It shows everything along your route, truck stops, scales, rest stops, etc. Oh and walmarts.

I sometimes close the bedroom door and curtain behind the cab and only run the dash air for MrsBob86ZZ4 and I. If there are others on board we leave the curtain open and see if the dash air provides enough cooling. Again, keeping the bedroom door closed. If people are uncomfortable we fire up the generator and the roof air. Again, keeping the bedroom door closed. If somebody wants the bedroom cool we turn on that roof a/c also. I don't think these generators use all that much fuel. And it's actually probably better to use them than not. You're still going to use less fuel than most of the diesel pushers running down the road.

I had the same problem with ours. Went from Wisconsin to Florida last week. It
was 2800 miles round trip most of it was 90deg plus. Ran a generator to run the rear AC. The AC struggled to keep up. It was unbearable to not run the camper AC. I have a sleeper on my truck as well and had both the dash and the sleeper AC on max. I set a box fan up in the walk through area thinking I would be able to blow the cold air back when driving and that would be sufficient but not a chance.

Our coach doesnt have a cockpit curtain or divider, BUT if its just myself and another passenger the Dash AC is enough.

MORE OFTEN (in the summer):
since we live in texas....and have 120 lb Old English Sheep Dog, we run the generator and at least one air conditioner (we have 2) going down the road.

We have to keep the (center) swinging walk thru (bathroom) door shut while driving (other wise it swings/bangs around)....we don't typically run the rear (bedroom & bath) A/C unit while driving (but of course we can), just because no one is usually back that far.

Even in 100+ degree heat both our 15k BTU AC's keep the coach VERY cool (70 degrees).

Thank for the input, we have a curtain and used it, the dash ac was working great, but tryed to put some of the cool air in the back, didnt do to good. I have some foam core and I am going to fix a dog door in it for Spike. He noses up the curtain but forgets to pull it down. I figure about 1.5 ft tall the length of the opening hinge the flap with duct tap for him. And run the gen to keep the back kool.
