Some progress and regress. Some panels had to be removed because the glue would not hold in the corners.

I'm curious what type of glue you are using...good luck with the project!

Had it been me, I likely would have tried a urethane-type construction adhesive. That, or some kind of long-setting epoxy. However, coming up with a gun-type application method for the epoxy becomes more difficult, which probably leaves the user to resort to a brush-type application method. Anyway, I am interested in learning what he tried, also.

3m #08274,smc/fpr-90 the body shop said it was great for bonding on trailer siding. i am starting to have 2nd thoughts.

Maybe they were thinking steel or aluminum skins versus laminated panels weighing what those weigh? What are you thinking of doing?

i'm putting aluminum trailer sheets on it.

This is what I used and had no problems. I did clean everything with isopropyl alcohol first but did not sand anything. I used the poly on the aluminum to steel and used the tape on the aluminum panel to aluminum panel overlap. These are the products designed for what we are doing and allows the panels to move in heat / cooling cycles. The product you are using calls for sanding both surfaces with a 80 grit paper and is for bonding small repair panels on cars permanently. I don't believe if will allow the panels to move. So in the sun the panels will wrinkle like crazy.

well after about a year and a half at the body shop vary little got done. he put siding on and thats about it. picked it back up about end of march i think. he closed up his body shop and is working on it at our shop. have kitchen, bathroom and 3 rear windows in so far. another guy came to day and put roof, ceiling fans and tv antenna on. have put on some side trim rails on. should start going faster now. will post pictures tomorrow.

i going to use ramps to load a pickup in rear. i will open side door so can open truck door to get out of it.

Aha, very good. I have an enclosed car trailer that we pull. We use a winch to pull the race car in, but regular cars I usually just drive in. And then perform some incredible acrobatics to get out of it. I sure wish I had a bail-out door like that.
