Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

My lighting showed up, they don't match... oh well. Mount is taller, covers are different, colors don't match.

So I started on a light bar. Bend attempt #1, fail.

Attempt #2, works. Floor jack, two pieces of 2x material, one big *** trailer hitch. Kinked the tube a little but it worked and its a light bar, who cares.

I have the ARB version of those lights on my URJ200. Still deciding which way to go for the rig. Lights are needed as well as a bumper. The elk are out in full force.

Propane tank is big, will be nice in the winter!

Welding day yesterday. Made brackets to hold the kerosene tank for the heater. Blue was the first can on the spray paint shelf.... You wont see it.

Then started on the light bar.

Then got distracted for a couple hours.... It got dark. Turns out you can fit a headlamp over a welding hood :D

Tacked up in the driveway.

Welded up. Im going to have a long date with the grinder. I left the mounting tabs a little big as the bar was kinda sloppy in my 'jig'

bends didn't come out in plane very well. Oh well, I just bolted it on as we are trying to get out of town and those same bolts hold the bumper on!

May have to add some tabs to support the lights, we will see

Yep those are toast. Collapsed easily by hand and didn't rebound at all...

nice!

I just picked up a PLATINUM edition 2017 f350 long bed 4 wheel drive...i doubt we'll ever tow anything significant with it - just a replacement for my tired (looking) 2004 6.0.

The wife was out of town when i bought it  so i had to tow myself home

I didn't like 'em at 1st but theyve grown on me.

the quiet-ness, and level of luxury (massaging front seats, heated steering wheel, 6 cameras) is a whole new level of stupid
Yeah that's a lot of goodies to break down the road too! I'm looking at a 4 cam system for mine tho, one reverse, one under looking at diffs

Propane tank is in! My god that was not fun, its tight, like really really tight, cant lift the tank up, it has to be tilted and wiggled into place.... Apologize in advance for crappy pics, its tight. :D

The front side of the tank got through bolted through the floor, its under the fridge, which meant fridge had to come back out. Back side I couldn't do that as it would have been right inside the door. So I made some brackets, they go under the flange on the tank, pickup both bolts, and then bolt sideways through the floor member. Getting all that lined up with the tank in place was interesting.

Brackets with the lovely blue paint

And in place.

Remember it was tight? Its touching the spring hanger.....

A little sawzall action and more better. Hopefully that not enough to cause structural issues in the hanger.

Tucked up nicely, you cant even see it if your not looking. It will get a healthy coat of bed liner next.

nice - any concerns regarding debris slung from the tire or a blowout / tread smacking the tank?

Yes and yes. I did speak with an RV owner who had a blow out hit his tank. He said it didn't do a thing to it. The ASME tanks are much thicker than standard style tanks.

But, I will be adding a shield of some sort and bed lining the tank. Either a piece of aluminum, or maybe a big rig mud flap bolted on.
