rv freezers

So i am looking at rv freezers and my storage below is 20" tall but the opening is only 19" i could make one fit, but not sure if the door would ever seal again....lol. whats do youthink i need to do? And that not counting the siding tray.

How much storage do you need?

Have you looked at the Dometic CoolFreeze series? They are AC/DC and portable if you need. I think a CF80 would fit on a slideout tray.

I have a CF110 on a slideout tray in my Haulmark and love it, set it as a cooler to keep your beverages cold or crank the temp down and keep your ice cream sandwich frozen.

we have a 64 quart model, been a good one, it'll freeze down to -5 degrees (f), its thermostatically controlled and auto switches between 12vdc and 120vac depending on whats available.

I had to trim the stiffening lip of the storage bay to get he cooler to clear, but then i put ours on heavy duty slide rails...

that looks nice! those dometic units are pricey, but i like the way their lids open.

It is actually an old Norcold. I guess Dometic bought them or something. We've had this freezer's baby brother for years, dragging it in and out of cars, trucks, and boats. It has been from the mountains to the Gulf Stream. I was very pleased to raise that hatch and find the bigger one.

I added our (edge star) and have been very pleased with it - 120* and the beers are always 34* (or what ever you set it at).

I won't be without an electric cooler....no more chasing ice at a race or tailgate event.
You don't realize how much room ice takes up in a cooler takes...until you have an electric cooler. You can get a lot more in the cooler when you don't have to have ice.

Thanks for all the input, guess I have something to work and look for.
As for the size, I was wanting for ice and some frozen foods, but now throw in beer and ice cream.....
Where do you put tables and chairs grill when you have a outside tv and a freezer??

I am working on that. I only have one dedicated basement storage box. The DW is pushing to remove the outside entertainment center to free up some additional storage.

for us....i put chairs, out door mat, tire covers and a ton of other crap in the front bin (between passenger door & house door).

next door is TV/Entertainment system
next door is cooler & overflow usually pretty empty
final door (after axle) is grill, tool box, jack pads, hoses, cleaning poles and spare parts.

adding shelves helps a lot.

really? I don't think our storage is "unconventional" - We're only 42 feet long, which I'm sure gives us more storage than say a 36 footer.

I guess its all in how the coach is configured. One thing I'm especially thankful for is that all our service items are all on the "road" side (aka drivers side) of the coach. I've seen some coaches that have the generator on the passenger side (which would suck when sitting outside).

Im sure John, (AKA THUNDERUSONE) has more storage than i do, simply because he's 45 feet long.

Quite to the contrary. I think it is our Renegade that is unconventional, having so little storage.

you're storage looks similar to ours....our Entertainment Bin is small not much larger than the TV itself but our cooler bin is larger....the combined space is probably the same as yours, its all in how its divi'd up i guess.

It would be helpful (if you don't already have them) to get some shelves built in, where you can....it effectively DOUBLED my storage space (since i everything isn't piled on top of itself).

Assuming the TV & Cooler are in the middle, like mine....whats in your front & rear storage bins today?

Yes. Front is propane and house batteries. Rear is storage.

that explains it a little.

since my propane, house, engine, generator & dump/tanks along with a small electrical bay are ALL the drivers side.

do you have any open storage on the drivers side?

In compartment 1, a 12" shelf next to the chassis batteries, in compartment 2 just enough room next to the inverter/charger to store hoses and shore cords. The holding tanks occupy compartments 3 and 4. The last compartment houses the generator.
