Replacing Carpet

So - anyone ever ripped out the carpet under a slide and replaced it with hardwood?

My only concern is getting things under the slide edge. I'll probably remove the dinette entirely and reinstall over the new flooring (that way it's the same as stock).

Anyway, not sure if this shoul dgo here or build your own but what the heck.

I did it with tile, not hardwood. It was not a problem. In my case, the tile was thinner than the carpet. I guess you might get some interference if it was the other way around.
After I was done, I put a wiper of felt under the edge to keep crap out from under the slide.
I think it actually worked better, the carpet kept getting wrecked the way the slide was arranged. Also with all the slideout leaks I had, the carpet was hard to get totally dry.

......use walk-off carpet like near the front doors of commercial buildings....with the rubber backing....non slip and doesn't deteriorate when wet can be cleaned with the hose and dryed over the fence.....geofkaye

Cool -so it was easy enough to just yank the carpet and put in the tile? I might have to do some destruction this week while we're at the track, I'm to the point with having a dog and dirty paddock areas that I'd rather paint the subfloor

....careful-wet floors mean the dog can fall and be all right-but If you fall it hurts and if the wife falls.....well it means it's going to cost you somewhere along the line. If a visitor falls its an insurance problem-even with a wavier as you can't assign your rights in the Good Old USA!.....geofkaye

.....BTW I had an Employee fall during construction of my trailer and sprain her ankle......$950.00 for a friggin' sprained ankle-covered by Workmans Comp here in OHIO.....Thank GOD or Workman's Comp here in Ohio......geofkaye

Actually we've found the waivers to work pretty well. That and no one else comes in the RV at the races so no worries, if the dog and wife can survive on hardwood at home they shoul dbe okay in here - thanks for the thoughts tho!
