Hey Folks,
I am early in the process of trying to pick a manufacturer for my motorhome. I really like Renegade but I havent seen much in the posts about them. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions anyone might have. What do you think would be the minimum horsepower for say a 28 ft motorhome that would be pulling a small stacker trailer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My SH dealer is a drag racer. She pulls her 2 cars in a stacker behind a 430/470 hp Freightliner Century. She says there is plenty of power. I personally haul a Jeep on a 20' trailer and don't notice it's there. I'd love to have Stacker size trailer minus the lift for my 6'8" tall TJ...post up if you know of any deals.

Renegade is a great company, I visited the Plant in Bristol, Indiana. The workmanship and the work ethics at the plant are outstanding.
I know the General Manager at Renegade and he took me on a tour of the facility and I watched the teams assemble the Coaches and Transporters. Another thing about Renegade is that you can bring your vehicle there after you purchase it and they will perform the warranty right at the factory.

I'd say 430hp would be a good minimum.

As for Renegade, I'd go with either them or Showhauler. I prefer Showhauler because they are more flexible wiht design ideas and are more able to make exactly what you want. Both companies will do warranty work at the factory.

If you're buying new, go for the Columbia with the Mercedes 450 and Meritor Freedom IMO. If you ever plan to drive in traffic you won't regret it. As far as the box goes, from my research they stack up like this:

Showhauler: Most flexible design, highest cost
Renegade: Somewhat flexible design, lower cost
Haulmark: Totally inflexible, lowest cost.

All three use different construction methods for the shell. Check them all out and go with what suits you best.
