Hello everyone!

I have a 1986 Freightliner FLC120 that I want to either use as a tow vehicle or make into a toter home.

Everyone I talk to wont insure the truck. It's either too heavy ( 17,000 lbs ) or they will not insure that kind of truck unless its a commercial trucking policy.

Is anyone else out there running anything this big, and who do you use for insurance?

your problem maybe that its still (titled) as a truck.
our coach is 36k and blue sky had no issue w/ covering it.

bluesky got too expensive (doubled w/out a single claim or infraction / speeding ticket), so we cover the coach w/ Allstate now (w/ the rest of our property & autos).

Not sure I can help but we bought 5th wheel from camping world then found a truck 2002 Volvo to tow we have giego they would not touch the truck but only RV we change and have National though camping world. We are supper happy with it.

I discussed this problem with my insurance agent (State Farm) and she told me as long as the title says Motorhome they will insure it. I asked about the number of axles and the answer was "Doesn't matter"! The only thing I need to find out is how to get insurance on the truck before the title gets changed.....

From my (limited) experience, RV/Motorhome regulations are super relaxed.

Here in Louisiana, apparently all it takes to convert a box truck into a motorhome (in terms of title/registry) is to take it to a state trooper's office and have someone look at it.

"Isn't there a list of some regulations that I need to meet? Like a toilet or a bed or 'no seats in the back' or anything else?" I asked.

'Nope, we just need to look and see that it's now a motorhome!' Was the gist of their reply. Super easy.
