Well here goes! The project begins!
We picked up this 1999 FLD120 that previously had a crane mounted to it. Frame was already stretched and double framed.
12.7 series 60 detroit for power with an Eaton 18 speed.
Plans are to modify an existing cargo box, a used Morgan body was located 102" wide 102" tall and 24ft long. The van box will get the front section notched to overhang the cab and windows/ doors fitted.
I'll see if I can get some pictures uploaded.

I picked up this Morgan van body,it's well made and has the frp walls. It's 8.5ft wide by 8.5ft tall inside and 24 ft long.

Brought the Morgan van box home on a buddies trailer.

Then parked the freightliner next to the trailer with enough room between them for the boom truck.

Van box in place

Time to start slicing and dicing the van box, we are going to notch the front of the box so it overhangs the cab, we'll shorten it up too. The extra frame behind the rear axle will get bobbed once the van box is notched and slid forward into position.

Made some progress on the cargo box modification. The box was 24ft ,so the front cap had to be removed, then the roof and sides shortened by 4ft.Then the notch for the overcab could be done.

The original corner radius pieces were the cut to fit the overhang and the belt rail lifted up to the lower edge of the overhang.
Then refitted the leading edge of the roof and the top outer corners.

definitely following this build! I see a Colorado tag in the window I am in Denver are you anywhere near Denver? I would love to see your build

Good progress, and the conversion reusing the pieces seems to be working out well.

I also saw the tire chains and thought if you need them, then you will need a whole bunch more insulation!

Worked on the truck again yesterday, starting to take shape now.
Upper and lower front panels were fitted.
As for insulation,I may go with spray foam ,best R value I think.

Hhhmmmm, I see them. Try using Chrome for your browser? Maybe whatever you're using doesn't like the pictures? I used to use Internet Explorer but had some problems viewing stuff there.

Krapf710 - I'm gonna guess photobucket is blocked by your ISP or Employer (if youre browsing at work), Im using safari and can see the pictures.

Try this LINK - if you can't see it or its blocked then you know something is prohibiting you from contacting photobucket.

I own a fld120 conversion with a Morgan box. Am happy to share any thoughts during your build. I'm located in golden if you want to stop and look. I am about to have additional work done to keep improving it..
