I realize that this isn't a conversion, but I'm hoping this hitch is known here.

I recently bought a 2007 Chariot and it has a 40,000 pound hitch plate with a channel. I've been trying to find a 40,000 pound pintle for it.

The label on the ball hitch says "RUFF NECK BY E-Z Ride CORP." The Web site is gone and the phone number is out of service.

I called eTrailer because they advertise a Curt ball/pintle that fits in a channel and I was told that the channel-type hitches are only rated up to 20,000 pounds.

The cutout on the tube and the curvature of the ball make me wonder if the existing assembly is also meant to fit a pintle lunette. I would just need the part that goes on top of it. (I have something like that for a hitch on my ag. tractor.)

I'd also like to have a couple more shanks with different sizes of balls. It doesn't look like it'd be hard to fabricate but I'd rather buy from a reputable manufacturer.

Suggestions? Is this an orphaned product that I should replace?

Thanks.

Your current ball hitch is NOT meant to accept a lunette(pintle) ring with an additional piece, it is designed that way to give it proper support for up to a 25,000lb trailer.

If you want a 40,000lb pintle hitch you will probably have to get a fabrication shop to make a solid mount that bolts on over the channel mount, using all of those existing bolt holes.

Here is a link to a thread on fabricating different mounts, including a link to the CAD files I gave a local shop to water-jet cut the pieces for me to build mine.

See: http://www.truckconversion.net/forums/f104/trailer-hitch-7581/

I accept no responsibility for the design or construction of any hitch platform, and you would need to verify the measurements for yourself.

Mine came with a hitch very similar to the one in your picture above. The 2 5/16th inch ball is bolted and welded onto mine. I wanted to be able to pull a trailer with a 2" ball. And I wanted to be able to use a bike rack that slides into a 2" square tube receiver. My neighbor is a retired welder. He whipped up this little gem for me. I works great. I would imagine you could find a welder that could make something similar, and a lot heavier duty, to attach a pintel hitch to. https://photos.app.goo.gl/wBkmLSgJP7Qpkwce8

I think that is the same as renegades. When I wanted to make a change from the std 2 5/16" ball I called customer service and they had parts send me a 2" receiver version with that same slide in plate. They may have other options available.
