2003 Conversion on International 4900 Chassis- 32' box.

Man, that box is HUUUUGE!!! And only 10' of living space? I'll pass, but am curious as to who built it. Gonna run superioronline thru the search engine and see what happens.
Just did it- NADA, zilch, zippo. Just another linksite. Oh well.
Meanwhile, anybody know who built this rig?

I would find out what that DT-466 is rated at, that conversion could be really under powered.

Forget ebay, go to racingjunk.com they have over 60 conversions on there and some at pretty incredible deals.

.....wonder how old the truck is and how many miles on that MDT....466 is a school bus engine....with a five speed it will take a week to get to 75 and in a wind with that large a box.....well let's say it will be interesting.....geof

I had the same list of questions except the engine... drove a u-haul with that engine and would be suprised if it did get to highway speed that quick...lol

You asked:
"who built it? what year is the chassis? how many miles on the chassis?"

Transport Designs in Pa. did the conversion. It is a 1990 with 300,000 miles. Thanks Pat

how is that for an answer...still interested??

The newer International DT-466 engines seem respectable. Wet sleeve (rebuildable) 7.6 liter/466 cu. in. engines which seem similar to the Cat C7. Designed for MDTs and have horsepower ratings from 210 to 300 and up to 860 ft/lbs of torque. I agree about the older one though...probably is pretty slow with the 5 speed to boot.

Full specifications on the DT-466 if anyone is interested.

What are you messing around with that one for anyway, when you can have mine for $89,000 and all the ponies you'll ever need!

It is now at Becks Custom Coach so anyone interested now needs to contact Nathan --> #989-224-6825.

After having a chance to take a look at it he called me and said that it is by far the nicest used conversion he has ever seen. They parked it right next to the new ones on the lot and he said you can't tell which one is the used one other than the older looking FLD front end. He loved the retro look of the cab interior with all of the chrome on the dash. He also said that someone was going to get one hell of conversion for a unbelievable price. All I said was "I told ya". It's hard to explain it over a phone, ya just gotta see it.

I will say every person that has seen it in pictures and then sees it in person always says the pictures don't do this conversion justice.

Bill

.....300,000mi...that is about maximum for a MDT engine without rebuilding....wonder what it came out of and what it was used for?...|I'd like to see the interior-if you have any pix though...never can tell till you see the whole rig....geof

....one other thing we all have to remember right now ....It's a buyers market....so keep looking out for deals and deal the dealers-because "HE WHO HAS THE GOLD MAKES THE RULES".....geof
