Hey 'Dog! That is the type of machine I hope to build someday. I agree about the diamondplate! I hadn't thought about it as interior trim, but it does NOT look out of place! Another idea for THE RIG.....
I think it would work great in high use areas especially where you are loading heavy stuff in and out of the rig to help protect door frames, floors, counter tops...
Diamond plate on the cabinet doors is kind of "fluff". Not really functional. Just for appearance.
I was actually thinking of the diamondplate for those lower areas that might be prone to the occasional kick. Yeah, I also believe it has to be functional, or it won't make the form!
Ol' Ernie really knew how to say it, huh?
Later, man!

...if diamond plate is to be functional-it's for protection....that is one thing........But if it requires polishing.....it will never be around me!...I don't polish anything and hardly wash my trucks 'cept maybe three times a year.....I grew at home where there was too much silverware and someone[help] was always polishing it.....It's all gone now.....I do like stainless but being around hospitals for a good part of my professional life, I don't have the appreciation for that stuff anymore....I like painted surfaces-not varnished wood- that comes from teaching wood shop in highschool/vocational schools....so Ill stick to carpet-painted wood-and cloth covered furniture-or canvas....I don't like vinal anymore either....something about vinal that reminds me of waiting rooms in hospitals....Oh well! that is just me.....geofkaye
Hey, now that you mention it, my future rig will probably have all laminate cabinetry & woodwork, along with ozite for just about everything else where practical. It WILL be a low-maintenance setup! A housekeeper I ain't!
....Gary: I'd Go with the laminate also, but I have to have a color change from time to time-a group of painters [3]can brighten it up in 3 hours[double coat] and be out of there....Laminate you are stuck with unless you have it sprayed with epoxy-now that runs $7.00 a sq. ft....where painters are around $300.00 for the whole trailer so to speak.....carpet is a dollar a sq ft for walkoff rubber backed 4X6's and wall carpet is 65 cents a sq ft installed 20 oz....glued and kicked in place....One day and you got a whole new interior and you are on your way....how many older coaches are all yellowed-nasty-and dated looking....but funcitonally OK....cheapessedgeofkaye
