Does auto generator start work with diesel on Isata 3? I've seen on some it only works with propane.

Traveling around I use truck stops to refuel. But there is so much diesel on everything including the ground. Short of changing shoes every stop, how can one reduce the pickup of the fuel. I use gloves or paper towels on the pump handle. Maybe it’s just me but the smell seems to linger.
