Wouldn't it be nice if stations marked the end of the islands (a green tag or flag) where the diesel pumps are located. I know most have the diesel on the end, but you have to look for the green handle and it's too late if there's no diesel (especially when pulling a 40 footer) :crying:
Hi all, we just took delivery of a 2016 Sandpiper 371 REBH, and I currently have a 2012 F250 with the 6.2L. It has a max tow cap of 15,500 and right now my trailer weighs about 13,500 lbs. it has no issues towing like excessive high revs, but I personally want the warm fuzzy of having a...
Given our upcoming travel plans, I've been wanting to carry some extra fuel just in case the "oh crap" happens and I can't easily find somewhere to stop. I've been debating carrying 10-20 gallons of fuel in two or four 5-gallon cans. (What I'd really like to do is get the larger fuel tank, but...
I recently pulled a new F.R. Sierra 377FLIK with a 2012 Ram 3500 dually diesel 4x4. It has the 6.7 motor with a 3.73 rear end. Used the Andersen fifth wheel hitch, it worked great pulling the 13000 lbs. plus, trailer and load. The truck pulled great, everything went well. Except, I'm a little...
Wanted to get some opinions I have a 2015 Cherokee 274dbh 31ft travel trailer. I currently pull it with a 2013 f150 fx4 ecoboost and I'm getting terrible mpg while towing. I have been looking to trade to an F250 6.7 diesel for additional power and mpg. This is also my daily driver for a 20 mile...
Hello,
I'm new to RVs and towing but really interested in a hybrid camper. The 233s is what I really like. This will require an upgraded tow vehicle as our '11 Odyssey will clearly not cut it.
My question is, is the Diesel Grand Cherokee adequate as a tow vehicle for the 233s? I have a...
Just had a kid telling me how his uncles Cummins gets 28mpg while pulling a 40' gooseneck with two trucks on it. Guess i made a mistake buying my new to me GMC... Sheeeesh. Why does everyone think they need to lie. Who cares?
I usually change my wife's oil & filter in her '09 Santa Fe... easy and definitely saves a few bucks since I do the full-synthetic thing... I have changed my own oil for decades, but having a company truck for the last 20 years spoiled me. Now I have this new Ram / Cummins and need to keep costs...
We have a new and bigger trailer and truck. About 10 feet longer then our first rig, a F-150 (Gas) with a Gray Wolf 19RR toy hauler. It was about 40' total length. We never had a problem getting gas becasue we fit into most gas stations.
However this rig, F250 (diesel) and a Work & Play 25 ULA...
We seem to have the same issue as others with off-season camping and heating with propane.
We find that the propane heat is very wet, so the windows and walls sweat.
Since the toy-hauler has a fuel cell I am considering installing two of the D5's to replace the propane furnace...
I want to travel more this summer, including a trip to the Rockies and I am thinking about moving to a diesel truck. I have done a lot of research and come to really no conclusion as to what I should buy. The big 3 have seemed to resolved their major past problems and so I would some input...
We recently bought a 28ft travel trailer approximately 5702 dry, payload 1898, GVWR 7600, hitch weight 687 pounds. We will be traveling to mountains, approximately 8700 ft (Colorado and Wyoming)
It appears we will need a 3/4 ton diesel truck. Wanting to avoid having the truck near the house...
Hey campers, just wondering how much of a difference you're seeing between diesel and gas these days. Used to be around .30-.35/gallon around here, but now it's a buck. Can't wait to hear the justification of these price differences. I wish the oil companies/distributors would just come out and...
We crossed the border to Post Huron MI yesterday to do a little shopping and was amazed at the price of diesel there is a whole dollar between gas and diesel, did they stop making it from crude oil :roll eyes: it's cheaper in Canada and that should be embarrassing to you guys south of us.
I recently purchased a new Coachmen Prism 24J. It is based on a Mercedes Sprinter with a turbo diesel engine, which requires #2 (ultra low sulfur) diesel fuel.
I'd like to take it to Baja California, Mexico next month. I have heard many different opinions about the availability of #2 Diesel...
We are upgrading to a 2013 Georgetown 351 Bunk House, so very interested in finding a new home for our 5er and TV, super low miles on both and never left the state of Oregon. The 355QBQ is super rare on the west coast. The 3500 has every feature under the sun. Contact me directly for more...
Just a suggestion to anyone ordering a new Solera. If you will be doing a lot of camping in the cold with no electric available. You should probably order your generator with the diesel option. Husband is camping up near Stanley ID. Nights are down in the 20's and he is keeping the furnace set...
So we are looking to get a used 3/4 ton for a Hawk FWC.
The question is a gas engine or a diesel, as this truck will not be an everyday driver. We hope to go camping about once a month, with the truck sitting for the rest of the time (about 3 weeks).
We were looking at a 99-2000 Ford F250 with...
I have decided that the F150 I have is just not going to cut it with the trailer I have. Have an opportunity to get a pretty good deal on some 2015 350 Super Duty trucks coming available in a couple of weeks with very low mileage on them. Some are 6.7 diesel and some are 6.2 gas. Are there any...

If Diesel engines are so good, how come we're not buying them in North America. Interesting article.
Are diesel cars a good choice for Canadians? - The Globe and Mail
Saturday I pick up my first diesel engine vehicle and am heading into unknown waters.
I've done some initial research, talked with some folks.
Now looking to lean on any of you who want to offer things I should keep in mind, be aware of, maintenance, general upkeep, fuel preference/additives...
