Almost to the bottom of the article is the advice on how to maintain bluetech diesel engines. Do you agree with it?
I remember reading somewhere that the diesels have OBD requirements like passenger vehicles, the exact details elude me.
With passenger vehicles the connections are standard and $49.95 buys a code reader which is especially helpful for pesky little intermittent problems.
Wonder if there is a...
Apparently the API will be issuing a new oil specification in December to upgrade the spec that has been in place since 2006. It seems that Ford has rejected this new spec oil and has stated that if you run the new oil blend in their diesels, and end up with an oil-related failure, they reserve...
In the last few years I've noticed that I get little tiny oily dots on my motorhome, primarily on the driver's side and mostly towards the rear. Sometimes there are more than a hundred dots when I return from a trip. With a little time, they get hard and pluck off with a finger nail. The more...
After owning PowerStrokes for many years, I've been driving a 2012 F150 for about 3.5 years. Next week, I'll be trading that for a 2016 F350 Lariat 4x4 PSD with 3.31 gears.
My wife has a 2015 F150 SCREW with the 5.0. so we have two rigs that can tow the travel trailer, although one will...
We're on a trip in our 2004 Coachmen Cross Country. My wife who is on oxygen and can't walk very far and I are parked at a truck stop in Panguitch Utah. The engine was running fine two days ago and had been for over two thousand miles. Then, as I was driving the engine, Cummins 340 with turbo...
It's no secret Dodge missed the mark with thier transmissions on the 3rd gen trucks. It is true that certain components are weak and prone to failure. I fell victim to a torque converter failure 4 days after returning from my 2nd 1000 mile trip from SE Va to the mountains of TN and back. I...
New set up was .... a pioneering experience .... sussing out the camper fit and the suspension upgrade. The diesel is wonderful...tons of torque... lots of interior comfort (though had to add a seat cushion!) and mileage I can afford to go places with.
We have just spent 12 days in Canada. My question regards diesel fuel in Canada. Is it any different than diesel in the USA? In the USA diesel contains levels of bio-diesel as stated on the fuel pump. In Canada there
Is no mention of bio-diesel, or anything else. The pump just days diesel.
I...
We really "Lucked Out" at a "Mandatory Truck Diesel Road Fuel Check"! All trucks were stopped and had to pull into a "Closed Weight Station" where they opened your fuel fill and submitted a 4' long TEST Strip! They really were NOT busy when we were there so I ask if the "Scales were...
I have a 2016 F350 SRW 4x4 and tow a 34' fiver. I topped off the DEF tank before leaving on a short trip last week. Trip was about 300 miles round trip. So, today I decided to top off the def tank again. It wouldnt hold a teacup full, which surprised me. My previous 2011 6.7 would have used...
We are thinking of moving to a motor home and loved the Dynamax Isata 3 with the full wall slide. When I went to the dealer he asked how we were going to use it. Right now we would be looking at occasional summer camping and about a max of 5,000 miles per year. He stated that we should avoid...
Hey all,
Recently upgraded my Ram 1500 to a 2016 Ram 2500 laramie limited diesel. love, love, love this truck. It pulls my 14 Vibe 826vfk with no problems.
Question is, we plan on upgrading to a fiver. My only concern is how big do I go. I know the 2016 Rams 2500s have a pretty low payload...
Where I live, the price of diesel has been getting higher and higher lately as compared to regular gas. It's now about 40 cents higher. Are others seeing this where you live as well?
We have some issues we need to solve with the brake lights of our 1993 Coachmen Santara Rear Diesel. Does anyone have the schematics? We know they were provided with these models, and would happily pay for a scan. PLEASE message me if you know someone who owns this model or has experience...
So, we're still trying to narrow down whether we want to go with the Dynamax Force 37BH, or the Berkshire 38A. A major deciding factor is going to be the difference in driving, handling, and ride quality. Can anyone who has driven both a DP Class A and a Super C (preferably the Force) comment on...
I am needing to upgrade to a larger 250/350 style truck, but there is a lot of discussion in Canada about a lack of diesel fuel in the rural areas of southern US, once you get off the interstate or major highways. Was this only a problem in the past, or is it still a problem now. With a 14k...
I have the 3.2KW diesel gen in my Sunseeker 2400R. I occasionally get a "Short Circuit" error on the Cummins Onan display when the AC compressor starts up, resulting in generator shutdown. The dealer looked at it last year and said a wire was loose in the AC unit and it seemed to be fine...
Considering upgrading my present 2007 diesel TV for something newer. One of the trucks I am looking at is a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 Z71 2wd. I have no experience in Chevy/GMC and wanted to get some opinions of those who own them.
1. What is the difference between a Chevy and GMC?
2. Love, It...
I am looking to upgrade from my 1/2 ton Silverado towing a wet weight of 7200lbs to a 3/4 ton. Which does everyone prefer? Most important thing for me is difference in gas mileage. Take one big trip a year and the rest are just an hour or so to local lakes and campgrounds.
After pulling the Rockies on I 70 west yesterday I surrender. The gasser white flag is waving. Haha!
Sure I did it. Sure I kept it at 45 to 55 but it was taxing on the gasser. 5000-5500 rpms the whole way. Just not really a confortable tow on those kind of grades for extended periods of...
Hi
I have been told that the new 1500 with self levelling suspension will tow a 8280 ultra lite

I live in a western suburb of Chicago and am looking to move up from a Chevy 1500 to a new 3500 crew cab srw diesel. Closest one is 75 miles away! Is this normal around the country that they are few and far between? The local Ford and Ram dealers all have a theirs in stock. I am if anything...
