Has anyone found a way to tie down the open awning on a MicroLite 22FBS (or similar), such that it doesn't get damaged on a windy day? Our dealer just recommended we retract it if it's windy. It would be nice to have the shade or rain cover, even in a moderate wind. Any ideas?

My awning makes "popping and cracking noises at the elbow joints where it connects to the RV and in the middle joint. The cracking and popping noises usually happen when there's a slight bit of wind, but also when extending the awning. The cracks and pops are loud and very disconcerting...
