If it were me, hdt singled with large sleeper, some sort of deck to carry spare tires tools etc. Fridge microwave etc in the bunk. Espar type sleeper heater mandatory. Better ride, cheaper on parts, and easily serviced anywhere. MDT with a large box toterhome, again, your creeping up on...

    MDT for RV Hauling

I agree on the crate engine, way better route. The International, no, that is his first HDT.I painted the truck to match the trailer he is hauling, but don't have a recent pic on the puter. I know some guys are getting over 10 mpg with thier HDT. Was looking for a Volvo there a month or so...

    MDT for RV Hauling

I agree on buying used, the market has some good deals. I do work for the guys that haul the cars in and around the Toronto area, most of the guys with the 53 foot wedge trailers have been forced into the larger trucks now, usually a 550 series and up. The ministry is frowning on using a 350...

    MDT for RV Hauling

Big money well over 100 g I built 6 trucks this last year for guys hauling their fivers, mostly fulltime Rvers. The one that left here last month, a big Volvo, these guys figure it's cheaper and safer using a big truck too haul their trailers. Pic of the Volvo during the build. What part of...

    MDT for RV Hauling

My 2004 topkick 6500 with a Cat C7 and Alison transmission does a good job hauling my 40 foot fiver. I fulltime so it's loaded and heavy. I don't put the miles on it like a commercial guy would though. I have had dually diesels in the past, braking was always a problem and running at or near...

    starting to build motorhome

They usually put a lift axle on a double frame. I have replaced and repaired frames double and triple, at the lift axle mounts, due too stresses. Your box looks to be a rigid mount, if you drop the axle and pump significant air, that frame will flex in the centre. Which will transmit to the...

    starting to build motorhome

Concerned about the lift axle, thinking frame flex, which transmit to the body. Is frame doubled or triple ?? Cool build, lots of hours, lots of thinking and designing on the go.

    Frame Welding

Those roll up doors are nice, pricey I bet. Looks like a nice build your doing there, you cleaned up the interior nicely too, that rubber mat is a nice touch.

    Air Bags Air Ride

You will need a torque rod to stabilize the cab side to side movement. Any cab sleeper air bag should work, get the mounts too, fittings etc and a levelling valve. Prob also have to build a subframe under the whole unit front to back.
