    Fuel MPG

Im curious what others are getting... We've been having some discussions and it seem i (mysteriously get good mpg)...admittedly i have a heavy foot, i have been typified (by more than one LEO) as an aggressive driver. We are 42 feet, single rear axle, MBE 4000 (450hp) and ZF/Meritor 12 speed...

Pulling a stacker w/ our single axle would not be good, it would certainly put it outside of GCWR. We recently pulled an 11k lb race trailer (i know its not a stacker) and our mpg wasn't effected....we maintained our steady 10 mpg. that is....until i ruined it by racing a MB/Sprinter Camper...

I wish, and anyone is welcome to ride along w/ me as validation. I always hand calculate the mpg (miles / gallons), and my cruise setting is GPS verified (by the speedo it reads 70 or 73 mph, but by the gps its 71 / 72). I wonder if our single rear axle has an advantage?

its pretty typical for us, 9.9mpg has been the norm for a long time (cruise set at 72mph, which is the highest i can set my w/ the factory tune). I don't think we've ever experienced anything under 8.1 or 8.3 (running pretty hard (75 - 80 mph). I've seen as high as 13.3 but that was a lengthy...

we ended up playing it safe & ran north and picked p i20 just west of shreveport.... we were pretty dry until we hit Mississippi and then it didn't quit until we were north of knoxville. we did well, getting 10.1 mpg and refueled in birmingham....we ran pretty hard from brimmingham til just...

I agree Andy, and i tell my passengers, the safest place to be in an accident will be IN the cab.

RV hauler tow rig "Sleeper" remodel.

i know were a bit different jasong but thats the beauty of our unit (and even a tractor based toter)....only 2 reasons to stop....the dog or the driver have to go :D we have even perfected the "flying driver change" (air outta the drivers seat (to the lowest position, wheel tilted forward and...

    generator radiator protection?

i should add, ours is behind the rear wheels, radiator & stator closest to the wheels.

    generator radiator protection?

BUMMER! sorry to hear that. Where on your coach is the generator located? I know our ours its close to 14 inches off the ground.
  15. bushpilot-TC

    generator radiator protection?

Did the generator get submerged? I've run ours in the rain plenty of times...while driving or stationary. if the stator windings get wet (and the coating comes off) youre gonna be screwed even if the generator ISN'T running.

    water tanks

No stink here either Sam...but i wouldnt want BLACK water in my gray tank either. It makes sense to pump gray water into the black (since the gray fills fastest), but i wouldn't DARE want the risk of blackedned water backing up in to the shower from the drain either. i set the cruise at 72...

    water tanks

man we don't even use deodorizers in either tank anymore - since i installed tank washers. i get it, its not a race car but I've had stuff come outta the cabinets (on a large bump etc)....so far no tipping over. i guess I've never expected that the p-traps are completely full of water

    water tanks

Gray water isn't nearly as foul smelling - so any that escapes via the drain would barely be noticeable. Im really just kinda talking out loud - confirming theres not gonna be an issue. The water in the p-traps on an rv sloshes around & I'm wondering if that might give odor a chance to escape...

    water tanks

if black water is in the gray water tank, could there be an odor/vent issue? won't the odor / gasses in the (dirty) gray tank escape thru the sinks and shower drain? are the p-traps enough? on a black holding tank it vents thru the roof and toilet is sealed with the valve & water to prevent...

    Tow bar breaks on interstate

my knowledge (is limited) but blue ox (and roadmaster) don't necessarily require lubrication. blue-ox calls for silicon lube (iirc) as a means of CLEANING the dirt and (usually) sticky debris that builds up. roadmaster calls for cleaning and DRY lubing (to prevent debris from sticking to a wet...
