Showhauler 28qssl question

looking at a 2005 showhauler with 450 Mecedes and a ally 6 speed. My question is how well will it perform with the 6 peed trans, will it be too wide geared to stay in the sweet spot of power? Thanks in advance never owned one an ddont want to be sorry!!!

It's gonna kick butt all over any deisel pusher, I'd say. And there are tons of those rolling along. I bet it would be nice and smooth too. My 10 speed autoshift sure does have firm shifts and when it engages each next gear up it really digs in and pulls hard. I doubt the Allison would do that. Smoother for the passengers on the Allison I'd guess.

I think I would have to agree with Bob on his statements. I am seeing some of the new truck conversions built on the Freightliner are coming with the six speed allison. For what I use my rig for I think the 12 speed Auto is a bit of over kill. Matter of fact yesterday as I took off from a stop sign I think it hit ever gear without any load and a flat road.
