Just checked with my friendly Volvo dealer about the availability of shop manuals for my 610. They have to be ordered and Volvo puts them together based on my VIN number.

They cost about $250 each.

I have a fairly generic Volvo, M-11, straight 10 spd et al. Same as Jim's, probably the same as Dave's and I am sure larry has a few more out there.

two questions

Anyone have a shop manual for sale that would cover my truck?

If I ordered one, is there a way it could be shared between some of us? Not all that concerned about the $$, it is just a lot of dollars for a very limited application i.e. one truck.

Anythoughts

Chuck

N- 14 owners get yourowndamnmanual, you will probably need it.

Chuck -

I had to laugh when you mention the manuals. I ordered mine last year and did not ask how much they where going to be. I was thinking one or two good size manuals. When they dropped them off in a big box and I pulled out 15 of them, I can see why the $169 charge. I was disappointed though not to find a service manual. That was another $25.

How do you like the M-11? It took me some getting use to keeping the rpms down when tooling throught the gears. Love that milage though.

Hi Guys,

I have never needed any shop manuals as yet. When purchasing any tractor, be certain that at least the following three manuals that came with the truck are included in the deal.

1. Volvo operation manual. This covers all aspects of the Volvo cab, accessories, etc.
2. Engine manual. This manual provides operating instructions, service requirements, and all other aspects concerning engine operations and components.
3. Dealer locations manual.

Many trucks arrive at the dealer or back at the leasing company with these manuals no longer in the truck.

If you are lucky, you will also receive a transmission manual, differential manual, hitch operation manual, air dryer manual, radio manual, and build sheet containing all components on the truck.

I have never needed a shop manual. A lot of information is included in the engine manual. Beyond that, if you have a particular job to do, you may be able to find instructions on line.

Any time any part or information of any kind is sought, you must provide the dealer with the vin # of your truck.
