I have a pretty nice Alpenlite truck camper. I need to be able to haul a car also. Based on both the price and the rather sparton living quarters trailers I have seen for sale, I am thinking I could get a low deck open gooseneck trailer about 36 feet or so and put my camper on it. With some creative fabrication I could enclose the wheelwell area of the camper with some storage. The rest turns into open hauling area or nice flat patio. If I get one that isn't too wide I could still just pull the camper off and use it conventionally. Open gooseneck like this shouldn't be very expensive comparitively. Anyone seen this done or have links to pics of some contraption like it? Any ideas?

Good Evening, I did this several years ago and it worked out well. I did not use a slide in. I used a bumper pull TT it made it easy with the side door access. I torched the tongue off took the axels out and then trimmed the wheel wells out with sheet metal and painted same color as factory paint on TT. The Gooseneck trailer was 38' long and the TT was 18' long after cutting the tongue and rear bumper off. That left me a lot of room for the rear area. When looking at GN be carefull there is a lot of junk out there.

This one is not on GN trailer, but on the flatbed itself. Looks very "custom"
