the correct answer is "it depends"...if you run a coolant filter w/ SCA tablets & TEST the coolant you may NEVER have to change it.

whats the mfg suggested maintenance interval ? personally on my autos & pickup (diesels & gas) i never follow the mfg suggested intervals...i generally 1/2 those suggested intervals (mostly cause i drive my vehicles HARD).

regarding my OIL changes intervals - i test them all to determine what i can safely get away with.

are you certain about the engine model number ? ive not heard of the 460 but i have heard of the 4000.

this maybe helpful - http://www.ddcsn.com/cps/rde/xbcr/ddcsn/DDC-SVC-MAN-0056.pdf

My son used to drive a company truck, '05 Columbia with the MB450 Mercedes motor. Rotted a piston away with something like 460k miles on it. They think the coolant hadn't been tended to properly causing cavitation or something. What little I know about these big trucks the coolant thing is complicated. There are all sorts of coolants and additives and filters and such. I decided to let the dealer that services my truck handle that part.

cavitation can cause over heating pockets (as i understand it)...and ive been told that SCA's can help to minimize that.
