Hi guys

I want to buy a semi truck (Pete 379 or KW W900) & convert it to RV to tow my 5th wheel trailers.

Does anyone have experience with doing this in CA?

What are the steps I need to take to do this?

Thanks
Drew

From what I have gathered:
It must have only 2 axles.
It must have an area to sleep, a refrigerator, microvwave, generator, shore power, toilet. (pick 4)
It can then be registered as an RV in California.
No commercial license, no weight fees, no stopping at the scales, no CA numbers.

thanks al25091 for the info

1. Do you have a link to the regulations you stated?

(I want to print them out & carry them with me all the time)

I don't have a link for those regulations. People have had good luck with Brakken tax service handling all of the DMV registration work for $200.

In addition, NO Commercial Hitch (It has to be removed), No Trailer Airbrakes (Glad Hands Have to be REMOVED)! By a Three Axle truck and REMOVE the Forward Rear Axle! Truck will need a VIN Inspection (Braken will help with that!).

I have done all of the work on mine myself and its time consuming and heavy lifting but its all doable and relatively easy.

Mine is a 385.
