I know that it makes sense to drop and axle on a class 8 just used for the relatively light loads of a RV. Presumably you save on tire expense. Are there other reasons? Do I stay under some desirable limit that benefits me.

I am looking to drop 1 of two 20 rears and have a 13 front. What about taxes or insurance differences? Stopping at scales? etc.

Thanx

You'll save a little on the turnpike. Make sure your gonna stay under 20,000 on that rear, I know Ohio has scales as you enter toll booths. I don't think they will mess with ya if your a private coach and not to far over.

It will definitely ride nice, the closer your to the max the better she'll ride. I ran a few trips that I am sure I was close to max on the front and real close to 20,000 on the rear and that rig rode like a Cadillac.

I know alot of guys like the tandems for traction, on the road I never had a problem off the road forget about it, she would go done like a sinking ship.
