Air Tank Drainage

I read in a thread about draining air tanks down, but the thread was not specific. What should i be looking for in my rig. My seats are air, my brakes, and the rear end raises and lowers. Where typically are the tanks located? should they be drained occasionally? ON my compressors for work (Framing) i always drain them at the end of the day, Thanks Gene
 
most newer trucks have air driers on them. they should be rebuilt or buy exchange unit every year or two years depending on style. some have spin on filters that can be replaced. they say to drain air tanks every day used. i don't think you would get much water unless real humid. tanks are mounted under cab or on frame rails. will have 2 or 3 tanks at at least. some tanks have automatic ejectors for draining but they don't work vary well. they plug up and freeze in cold weather. all air dryers have heaters on them that i know about. most are on all the time but some trucks have switches on dash to control.
 
I go under my truck and pull the cables on the release valves on my tanks every once in awhile. If you get under there somewhere up around the transmission you should see the air tanks. They have small valves that have a cable attached to them so you can pull the cable and let the water out. Don't worry about the seats of the axle. The water condensation is most in the bottom of the tanks. The lines that run to the axle and seats come out of the top of the tanks so the moisture should stay in the bottom of the tanks.
