Picketpost Mountain, in the background, is a remarkable butte located just outside of Superior, Arizona. There's a developed trailhead for the Arizona Trail near Picketpost. Viable camping options are slim, and you'll more than likely be able to hear the local shooting grounds. That said, it's...
The first AZ voyage for Moby. We got a great spot near Willow Springs, which is just west of Oracle, AZ. Then it rained. For 2.76 days straight. Approximately. The mud on the way out was epic, and we had to take a 2 hour+ detour to avoid a wildwest mudbog that had claimed 3 4x4 rigs.
Franklin Mountain State Park is the largest State Park bisected by a large US City- El Paso, TX (I think that's the "largest" stat).
This campsite--located inside the sanctioned camping area on the south side of the park--required 4L to access. Cool views. Remote desert. Pretty...
This is the set-up below Lajitas Mesa(?) in Lajitas, TX. This camp was our base while we rode trails in Big Bend Ranch State Park as part of the 2017 Chihuahua Desert Bike Fest. This is the longest trip Moby has been on, and we only ran outta gas once- 7 miles north of Deming, NM. Funny story.
This is our camp for our semi-regular spring mtb romp on the Black Canyon Trail. This camp is near the northern end of the Agua Fria National Monument. It's not a remote camp, but it's got a bit of shade, and it's close (~1mile) to deep, cold swimming holes. The camp is also very well located...
This was a quick overnighter with my Dad, on his 70th birthday. He described it as his best birthday. This was due entirely to the pickled jalapenos I grew and pickled with my stubby thumbs.
I picked Moby up on a cold, snowy day in Oregon. I had to meet the seller at a bank that could provide all the needed cash. On a Saturday. With a days notice. That brought us to Canby, OR, just outside of Portlandia. No hipsters in Canby. Well...maybe one.
