    Cummins engines

I had to go back to my Cummins data sheets - the N14 is based on 855 cid block - which would make it an 14L engine. They renamed it the ISX. 1250-1850 lbs torque @ 1200 rpm. We had one in our salmon troller - great engine - never broke down on us, in continuous service for more than 18 yrs.

    Motorcoach not for hire?

Only state I know of that restricts you is Washington. I've seen them pull over anything over 75ft and give out tickets.

What class license are you able to use for that rig? My son has a Georgia class C - he is confused on what he can drive.

    Back to Fuel Mileage

I have surrendered. I found a Unimog L5000 in the Netherlands, that at half the weight of my Pete, will pull the same weight with less hp. It's a crew cab with a 220hp with 650lbs torque, 8fwd/6rev manual (yea) fitted with Michelin 445/70 R24 tires. I fully expect this new BluTec diesel will...

Only state that harasses you are SD and IA. They'll put up a roadblock and make everyone go across portables.

Even with painted signs on the tractor and the trailer, I get stopped every now and then. It's a pain - never been ticketed or fined

What's with Class A only Resorts?

They are uppity and don't deserve my time or money. When they need a haul guess who they call?

    Alaska Advice?

Nope - never have. I would save the driving time and fuel money for the Alaska State Ferry.

    MDT for RV Hauling

I had a Westport CNG conversion - which got me about the same mileage as your Schwan. It was designed for inter-city transport, not open road. When I drove in Germany it was all you saw - COE's with dual fuel.

    MDT for RV Hauling

Yep - I can tell you fer sure that 3500 ain't gonna haul it far. I lived in Wyo for about 28 yrs - windy as heck and no place for puny trucks hauling 5ers. We used Pete's and KW's to haul horses all over the west slope with nary a problem, exc on portables.
