    International 444 Engine

    A 444E or Powerstroke will quit running before it damages itself if the high pressure oil pump fails. The fuel injection won't fire if there isn't oil pressure so you had to have one of the older engines. Also the Powerstroke uses a different block then the earlier 7.3 and 6.9. Newer coolants...

    Larry, why not a COE?

    You probably gain some manueverablilty and turning radius - you lose ride and your wife will hate climbing in and out. Attaching it to the cab is challenging. Would be a cheap chassis to start from. It can be done but there are issues.

    International 444 Engine

    Cylinder wall erosion was a problem in the Pre-Powerstroke / 444E motors. Nobody has been having those problems with Powerstrokes but the older 7.3 especially was problematic.

    Look at Fabco in SOCAL. They make parts to do it including axles and transfer cases. There are some with a center disconnect so you aren't spinning the axles all the time. A International 4800 might fit but it isn't a class 8. Marmon Herrington does some conversions on some Business Class.
