Some things that really bug me on conversions

Good points, Warpath. (1)I agree on the window RIGHT above the headboard. If nothing else, raise it a foot or so(looking at the pic of the Columbia TC, it looks like there's room). Otherwise just eliminate it. (2)True. As much money as these things cost, a solution like you say wouldn't add...

And may I add to that. Thank you so much! And Janet, you are right; we can do something about it w/ the little triangle. I guess we don't always do what should be obvious.

    Haulmark, Optima...are the others?

Any chance of getting "mmmm" kicked out as a "member"? Obviously "he/she/it" is a spammer of the worst order, and ought to be banished forever. Anybody reading "its" posts can see that. We don't need this kind of garbage.

front axle weight and tire rating?

Bob, from what I've seen in literature and whatever else, front axle ratings can go to 18-20,000#. I don't think you would ever want anything that stiff or your truck would ride like, maybe, a dump truck or cement mixer.....

Michigan definition of a "Motor home"

Just going by what arcaguy says, I think if your conversion is within the definition of that statute, it should fly, IF that statute is all Michigan has on the subject. But hey, I live in California, where how one takes a dump is regulated....

    Got the title today!!!

Hey, nice rig! Just saw the pic that Bob posted below your note. How long is the coach? When did Callen build it? I know about Callen Campers and have seen their website. They appear to do good work in that although the exteriors don't look too "fancy", they do some very nice interiors, if...

    Front wheel turning degrees

I would assume* that since the website still exists (SOMEBODY is paying for it) they must still be around. I wouldn't have one of those overgrown behemoths(my opinion). They are mainly a 5th-wheel coach mounted on a truck chassis, and many are too long to register in some states. *dangerous...

    Front wheel turning degrees

I'm wondering when they'll figure out how to get a 90 deg. cut angle; that way you should be able to parallel park your rig with one hand(the other occupied with the, uhhh, beverage of choice) into a space a couple of feet longer than the rig. Now THAT would be progress........ But then I've...

Which Side to Exit the Exhaust?

Uhhh, if there are still folks hanging out on the right side when the beast gets fired up, I'd call that a BROOOOOOAD hint that the party's past over...... Truly an argument for right-side exhaust.....

Which Side to Exit the Exhaust?

I've noticed that many truck conversions have the exhaust exiting under the LEFT side of the truck, which seems unusual since every diesel engine I know exhausts out of the RIGHT side of the engine. I guess my question is, why bother to run the pipe over to the other side of the truck instead...
