    Quiet Here

Sweet set-up... love the paint job. We're off tomorrow heading downstate Mich looking at a few... so ready to get something, but buried in "free" work up north. Love your overall look... gonna have fun tooling around the campgrounds. Lar

    Sidewall discussion again

So guess I just missed a garage coach at Beck's, with the metal side walls... and I think Renegade's use FRP as the structure, no interior metal walls so suppose I should pass on those. They use stainless steel in the corners though. I'd imagine that with complete fiberglass construction one...

    Sidewall discussion again

Checked back on FRP vs. all others and some of the best discussion was from 04. Anything new on the subject in 2010? Renegade and FRP sides look great, but wonder about strength, insulation, de-lamination, etc. Anyone find fault with the Renegade FRP or should I only be looking at ShowHauler...

Freightliner Columbia with Mercedes Benz engine

Does the Renegade have the same wall construction as other brands? Roof construction?

Aluminum next to the wheel... might as well use tin foil cuz if one of those tires disintegrates it'll take out everything thats not steel. I'd make a piece that bolts in place. Vote #2 for black pipe only. Sounds like a great project. Preplanning and fabricating are always fun.

    FINANCING HELP (QUESTIONS)

Don't have one specific rig picked out yet, but have contacts with 3 different dealers and a few from racingjunk. We need to get on the road south to take a few drives. Been way to busy here to get away. Thanx for the info, I'm sure it'll come in handy. Lar

    FINANCING HELP (QUESTIONS)

Looks Great! So, fill me in; I'm gonna be facing the same situation soon, how'd ya finally get financed? Lar

    Awnings

Agree with Geofkaye on the usefulness of awnings. Took our "A" clear down to Detroit... not a short trip for us, and had an awning installed. Used it, with carpet and all the amenities for some camping, and found that we used it less and less until we just enjoyed the outside sans awning. No...

    45 vs. 46 footer

Reinforcement for the fact that I need to finish these darn construction freebies and get on the "gotta get a camper" bandwagon. Question: How does someone make up one of those beds jammed into a corner anyway? I like the doorway into the garage from the bedroom but after having a walk...

    45 vs. 46 footer

Thanx guys for the offers and suggestions. Gotta get a move on b4 the market turns around and I'm buried further in debt with a "hobby Horse"... loved my Class A, but really looking forward to joining the big boys. Drove a garage coach at Becksmarine and was very pleased with that, just the...

    45 vs. 46 footer

Hey Bob86ZZ4, yup, I've seen it online someplace, and will take another look, thanx for the tip. Darling Wife of course said bedroom stackers seem too much like the p-up camper we had before, and not sure she wants to climb in up there. I know we could do it, but making the bed, that might be...

    45 vs. 46 footer

And he never asked the length... good news for me since I'm still looking for a garage coach in that max + length... It's a wonder that the windows on the side didn't give the officer a clue about its category...

    45 vs. 46 footer

I agree, if there isn't anything written I certainly call it 45. For the record Minn. has 13 1/2 high, 8 1/2 wide, 45' trailer, 45 motorhome, 70 combined... not that anybody would enforce it, well, maybe in Calif. thanx for the input Lar

    45 vs. 46 footer

Did a search on length and didn't find the answer, so here goes. Just got the latest Trailer Life RV Parks & Campgrounds directory and noticed the state towing laws limit length of RV's to 45'. Many of the garage coaches come in at 46'. Do these have to be registered as a commercial vehicle...

Which Side to Exit the Exhaust?

A lot of people concerned about noise, or gasses will use a venturi effect on their exhaust. They put an elbow from the gen exhaust, then that feeds into about a 4" PVC, held in place with metal tabs, and open to outside air for cooling. This runs the exhaust and most of the noise up to the...

    IN TEXAS

Congrats. Still in looking stage myself. I couldn't even get my wife to drive my class A... can't imagine her driving something that resembles a real truck... although her daily driver used to be a 3/4 Ford, 4 speed w/granny... don't know when she changed... you'd think after 45 years I have...

    Stealth Camper Build Thread

You're forgetting the tablespoon of lacquer thinner mixed in with the bleach and lemon juice... ignite that and it'd take care of it in a few seconds :-) Plus lacquer thinner cleans like crazy, evaporates quickly, and once you use it enough... a zingy aroma as well.

    Plates, Insurance ballpark $

Now that's what I'm talking about Jenny. It's about what I was figuring. Makes a real incentive for getting out on the road... can't let all that investment just sit in the yard :-) Too much to see, and nobody knows how much time is alloted. Thanx. Lar

    Plates, Insurance ballpark $

Thanx for the replies. I know some people that do the Montana LLC route, and it's legal, but keeps getting more looks from the tax strapped states. Michigan may be a prime example, but guess I should look further. 6% $ adds up fast. Keep hearing on RV.net about the magic 26K weight and since...

    Plates, Insurance ballpark $

Living in Michigan and knowing how expensive my Class A insurance and license plates were, what can I expect with say a Legend, Haulmark, Showhauler, Renegade etc. in the 150k range? Any others have $ amounts, or suggestions as to registration elsewhere to save some costs without incurring...

    Front Axle Capacity

Question on Front Axle, is springs or Air the better way to go? And, should I look for a greater capacity axle as part of my search for the perfect, well OK, satisfactory rig?

    Home is your Vacation Spot?

Ahhhhhhh, the good old days... still cold winters, fudge of course, but mostly mechanized harvests now, plus gone high society with grapes and wineries, plus specialized brew pubs... Haven't made the change to warmer climes, but mid winter I'm more than ready. Gotta get on the road again.

    Home is your Vacation Spot?
