There is plenty of clearance to get to the batteries or LP gas tanks. It's slightly inconvenient for access to the storage trunk, but not unreasonably so.
I found this clamp on etrailer.com (Part 64860) and it was perfect for clamping the bike frame securely. All I had to do was build the support to put it in the right place!
It has a U-bolt to mount, but I had to come up with a spacer made out of 3/4" aluminum square tubing.
I mounted the wheel cradles on some perforated square stock and then mounted that to the face of the strut.
I've used these cradles before (Etrailer.com part 63148) with success. They are meant to hold the crossbar of a conventional bike, but work great holding the wheel too.
I tied crosspieces to the uprights with more strut parts. The angle "L" shaped pieces had to be bent to match the angle of the trailer frame. I heated them with a torch to do that. The center upright piece has a small piece of square stock used with threaded rod as a spacer.
I used some threaded rod along with some large square washers to sandwich a short piece of strut to form a clamp to the frame. The square nut is a Unistrut part.
Most of the material is Unistrut, a construction material often used by electricians. It is a channel that allows you to fasten to it along the length of the open side, as well as through openings in the back.
