    Weight of Motorhomes

Don, Yes I have a fair amount of weight on the front axle, about 11,500 pounds with 200 gallons of fuel. I'm told (any other opinions would be welcome) that it's ok to load the front suspension to close to rated capacity to improve ride quality. Naturally, the weight distribution (front/rear)...

    Weight of Motorhomes

Patrick, I'm sure the tandem axles add a fair amount to the weight and I also have 200 gallons fuel and 200 gallons fresh water capacity. Also, my guess is the amount and gage of the steel that NRC puts into their construction probably adds a little weight. Paul

    Weight of Motorhomes

Geof, I just got back from Atlanta and got 9.85 mpg on the trip computer. Last week I went from Madison, Wisconsin to Atlanta and got 10.31. It seems that with over 10,000 miles on the Mercedes diesel, it's getting slightly better mileage than when new. Also, I had an 800 pound Harley strapped...

    Weight of Motorhomes

I'd be interested (I don't know why??) in knowing the weight of some other MH's on the list. My 30' NRC conversion on a Freightliner Columbia chassis weighs about 24,000 in the rear and 11,500 in the front for a total weight of 35,500 pounds.

A new Showhauler was conceived on 5/20/03!

My NRC conversion uses a leveling system made by Equalizer Systems in Elkhart, Indiana. www.equalizersystems.com They appear to be similar to Big Foots, in that they are quite heavy duty. I think the main difference is that they use one hydraulic pump for all four levelers rather than a...

New NRC Motorhome - First 8,000 miles

Geof, is the polyisocynate foam board readily available at places like home depot? Is it dense and strong enough to use on the under the motorhome on the bottom of the floor? I like the velcro idea for occaisional use on my skylight hear in the blazing sun of Texas.

New NRC Motorhome - First 8,000 miles

Patrick, I'll be very interested to see the temperatures you come up with. I need to decide if heat strips would be right for my rig, or whether antifreeze will do the job. Alan, regarding your comments, my 200 gallons of fresh water is under the bed, so it's esentially inside the motorhome...

Alan, The NRC dealer I went though was Beyer Trailer Sales in New Carlisle, Ohio. His name is Boyd Beyer, phone 800-845-5577. New NRC Motorhome - First 8,000 miles

Mark your email address isn't working, however here are some thoughts on you NRC and trailer questions. A good friend here in Austin is currently in the process of selling his large Winnebago and buying an NRC. His wife rode in another friends NRC and put her stamp of approval on it. Also, I...

New NRC Motorhome - First 8,000 miles

Geof, I believe NRC uses fiberglass bats for insulation. They are attached in a way that keeps them from moving around or settling. Sounds like an interesting new company in Tenn... let us know what you learn.

New NRC Motorhome - First 8,000 miles

Hi Bill, Yeah, so far I really like the Columbia. The Girard awning really hasn't been used very much yet, other than demoing it to my friends! It appears to be well engineered with the supporting arms at the same level as the awning. It seems to work fine, although I haven't had a chance to...

The pass-thru is the first storage compartment behind the rear wheels and I believe it go under the frame. The pass-thru part is only 8 or 9 inches high (full width), but enough for several pairs of skis or a ladder. It looks like they gave me as much as possible and still clear the frame.

    NRC Truck Conversion

nickhin, I also visited both Show Hauler and NRC. Both do an excellent job of showing there build process, etc. My friend also took his wife to NRC and she was very impressed. My only suggestion would be to time your visit when they have some almost completed conversions, so she can see the end...

Regarding onezman's question on the 12 speed, I chose the ZF Meritor Freedom 12 speed because it's the only fully automated manual transmission available. I believe the others have clutch pedals which are not fully automatic. What 10 speed are you refering to? I'm not familiar with a fully...

    NRC Truck Conversion

A little update on my NRC Conversion. I went to Middlebury last Friday to finalize some option selections and was surprised to see the greatly expanded NRC facility. In the last few months they added a very large addition to their manufacturing space. Both my friends and my 2004 Freighliner...

    Warpath, Why Showhauler?

DaleD, In early July a friend of mine and I are both taking delivery of new NRC conversions on 2004 Freightliner Columbia chassis. If you still interested in looking at what we think will be very high quality conversions, we'd be happy to show you ours. We're both in Austin.
