This campground is OK, especially for boating fishermen. Transfer CG further up the road is much nicer, with access to Burnt Timber Trail and the Upper Florida River.
Nice campground, gorgeous valley. Lots of ATV traffic in the area. Beautiful hike up to Ice Lakes Basin from the CG. Often crowded June-August. Weekdays are better. Off-season is best.
Vallecito Creek, which flows through the campground, is very popular with "creekers." It's Class V water in a tight, box canyon with few possibilities of retreat. Only the best kayakers attempt this creek classic. From the campground, it's only a mile hike to the whitewater.
