    AIR HORNS

Warpath, I understand your point of view, but remember it might just be one of us who walks up behind some bastard breaking into your RV in the middle of the night. I'm a very lite sleeper. BTW when I walk around at night I usually don't carry a gun, usually just a monadnock tapper and...

    AIR HORNS

Before Black Talon got so much bad press and they pulled them, tweaked them and released them with a more politically correct name I stocked up. Lets get back to talking about Air Horns

    Powerhouse Conversions?

Kaye I have to admit I agree with you on this point. As I often tell people when I intentionally break some minor traffic law, like a U-turn, I only think of traffic laws as strongly worded suggestions, like the ones your parents made, they are intended for your benefit, however if you are...

    AIR HORNS

Absolutely anyone with a firearms background should go with what they know, like, prefer and there is no finer shotgun then a Benelli. My suggestion was aimed at RV'ers who were considering a weapon, without previous firearms experience. For my choice of home protection has to be my Maverick...

    AIR HORNS

As a substitute for the weapon you mentioned or for a weapon with the stated function of 'coach defense'? I wouldn't probably make a suggestiion for a substitute for the weapon, these types of weapons just don't have any interest for me. I'm not involved in close quarter hostage rescue...

    Powerhouse Conversions?

Perhaps we need to start a new thread, maybe call it something like "Here comes the judge". And ask folks who already know they are illegal out of their home state how they have made out in different jurisdictions.

Kaye, I have heard that said about if it is legal length in your home state that gives reciprocity in other states. Do you have some empirical evidence that this is fact? I ask as I have also seen it expressed that there is no reciprocity to thye extent that it is law.

    AIR HORNS

Usually it dents out as their head hits it as they jump in their seat trying to get out of the way of the train they didn't see coming. ROFL Who said anything about a polite blast? If they've done something that warrrants a blast it's because they've done something that rules out polite...

    Powerhouse Conversions?

I'm glad you haven't run into many zealous State trooper types. You see so much on RV forums about length issues, especially off the interstates. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to risk it, although I can sure appreciate the benefit of having the room.

    AIR HORNS

150db is how they are rated. I don't know how they rate or test them at the factory, however; I have a fried who is employed by the county and he works in enviromental monitoring. One time I asked if he could measure the sound level and he had me drive over to where they were doing clandestine...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Wow this is such a long story. I first started thinking about going into full time RV'ing a few months ago. I'm done working for a living and since I'd done nothing but work like a dog for 30 years 2&3 jobs at a times and usually with some sort of gig on the side like buying, fixing and...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

If by what kind of power train you mean engine and transmission, I'm somewhat of a neophyte. Just from poking around and listening hear and there, it seems like a Cat engine with an automated mechanical transmission [rather then a torque converter auto]. Don't know enough about rear ends or...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Hey marc, thanks for chipping in to the fray. The issue of mating the box to the back end of a COE is something I've been trying to find information about. The Argosy which I've ridden in as a tracto truck not a MH has the tilt over cab for engine access and so far I haven't seen anything that...

Thanks for the 411 and good luck on your maiden voyage. You are towing a trailer? Does adding the trailer make you over 65' ?

    AIR HORNS

I think of them as self defense that is certainly well within the scope of the definition of measured and reasonable force. It some dumb shi!~ tries to intimidate me by aiming his vehicle toward me then I send a little blast of air aimed in his direction it is in my view more then a reasonable...

    Powerhouse Conversions?

Thanks for the pic url, I noticed this time that thee were more available to view then I noticed at first glance. What is the over all bumper to bumper length and how much of that is behind the cockpit area? What is the roof fabrication material?

    AIR HORNS

In case anyone is interested, I mounted a set of triple train air horns on my pickup. I keep a compressor mounted in it for air tools etc and so didn't need a compressor or a storage tank. I don't know how loud the Go Horns are, the ones I have are rated at 150db. The sound they produce is...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

I've been reading the discussions here and in other locations for several months now. When I first started thinking in terms of having a large RV, it was in terms of like a Winnebago, well it didn't take long for me to get turned off my the whole diesel pusher motorhome idea. Then I spent a...

May I offer this site as possible sources of help and information. I spoke to Steve Spence the otherday and they are having great success with a Freightliner they recently converted to run on Veggie oil. http://www.green-trust.org/

    Powerhouse Conversions?

Dang and I was going to go talk to the guys at Powerhouse. I see all these posts are now a few years old, does anyone have any newer information? i.e. Have they improved? I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever find a Class 8 conversonn builder who passes muster and who will build what I want...
