    Exterior Materials

Will an esterior something like the one shown in the 3rd picture on this page be something that I should expect a builder to be able to supply? http://mysite.verizon.net/res085e9/ The combination of metal, I believe this is Stainless I think looks good. How practical is it to make the entire...

Oh man, suddenly 47% of all posts would just vanish! Hmmm, would that be a bad thing or a good thing? I don't think I'm qualified to answer that conundrum.

Kaye do you ever get tired of listening to yourself? Oh no I can already answer that question, of course you don't.

    01 Kenworth 45' 3 axle 540k miles, 05 conversion, 16 living, 18' garage, $205k, ebay.

Question for you giuys with lots more knowledge of these vehicles. The portion of this vehicle which if I understand it correctly is the length of the garage is all behind the rear wheels. I've read a lot of discussion about dragging the ass end of RVs that have to much of a percentage of the...

    2000 Kenworth 3 axle, 470k, 34' 06 Custom Cruiser conversion, $225k, on ebay.

1995 Neoplan Skyliner Bus, 39k miles, $125, on ebay.

This rig has been discussed at length in the Neoplan and Skyliner groups. The consensus is that it isn't really a Neoplan, it was in a fire and has been cosmetically restored without repairing a great number of defects. Yes they look really great. Neoplan no longer does business in the US...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Gary, you make a valid point in average situations as you mention with a family; I'm single and a neat freak. I'm also very careful about what loose items I allow in a vehicle to be loose and floating around. The issue of flying missles in an emergency situation is not one that I take likely...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Marc - Would you elaborate on the issue of how much frame rail "they" will give you? Are you talking about Freightliner if you buy a new one from them or are you talking about the practical limitation of stretching an existing frame?

    Fuel Mileage

My inquiry really had noting to do with anything you mentioned Kaye. You're right however about the goal; it's already checked off on my short list of things to do in life and I did think about what you said and I think you presume. The only reason I had to ask was I happened upon a site...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Bill [from] Elburn THANK YOU I'm an idiot, I even have the Argosy brochure and never noticed the picture in it showing the service panel. This is going to make doing what I want to try a lot easier I'm sure. So cool, now I can start looking for a late used Argosy for real. I wonder if...

    Fuel Mileage

I think this is somewhat related to a discussion on fuel milage. Are many people figuring out the per mile cost of operations for HDT motorhomes?

Now here is a real conversion

Dang it! I've been looking in the wrong forum! I know some of you guys have heard me talking about COE conversions and wondering how they integrate the COE cab and still let it tilt forward. Now all I got to do is find someone who can make me an English horse lorrie!

The Loooongest Toterhomes I have ever seen!

Wick - is the picture in your linked photos entitled 2003 Show Hauler which shows the MH hauling a trailer what you describe as 83' long, I know depth perception is hard in a picture but it doesn't look at long as it sounds

    Painting

OK just me the new guys asking possibly lame questions again. With 10k for a paint job, why aren't more HDT conversions clad in nice shiny aluminum like an Airstream trailer or something else that doesn't need paint?

    Saving counter space

Say there Mr. Warpath, may I ask, did you replace the vent hood or just remove the original unvented one and install your new coffee maker where it had been? Has anyone ever used any type of downdraft vent for a cooktop like Jenn-Air? I realize there would be some engineering involved with...

    Need input planning new conv

Anthony - since you are in the business I'll ask you a couple questions which you can answer or not as you see fit. Why does everyone use conventional nose out in front truck chassis? Seems far more better to use that length as part of a vehiclesd overall length as living space. What do you...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Getting a little back on topic here; browsing around on the dub-dub-dub I've found quite a few examples of really good looking [to me] COE motorhomes. The thing of it is that in many cases I cannot tell be looking at the pictures how the cabs can tilt forward due to them having an overhang...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

MARK! What's your address? I'm going to send you a copy of a 9th grade composition textbook. He didn't put the words together 'conventional' and 'COE' to describe a type of truck. That's what the COMMA <,> tells you if you'd paid attention to those pesky little puncuation marks people...

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Where was the phrase CONVENTIONAL CABOVER used? I can only find it in your last message. A few messages back Wallik says "conventional, COE only" but there is a comma between conventional and COE which changes the meaning.

Building my own, more trouble then its worth?

Hmmm, how do I Goodle 'motorhomes' only in Australia and find anything other then what I'd call a camper van? As far as I can find the Aussies think a motorhome is a lot different then what I'm talking about, certainly nothing in the Class 8 league. The isue of the junction COE cab to coach body...

    Powerhouse Conversions?

Yeah Gary, you're right, I was just going to let it go, figured it didn't matter that much. I have a buddy with one, cruises right on down the freeway, in addition to fords deep streams, leaps over tall rocks with a single bound. And can be parked in a parking space when a Hummer would still...
