Spring Creek Campground along the Salmon River back in Idaho. The scenery could have been spectacular except for a wildfire that raged through the canyon. We ran into little traffic as the rafting season was pretty much over. The road was wide and graveled.
Spring Gulch campground just before Sula, MT. We drove down 203/269 from Florence to Hamilton stopping at the Daly Mansion. 93 through the Bitteroot Valley is congested so we took the quieter backroads.
We took a backroad that would lead us from the Lolo Pass Visitor Center to Montana just past Lewis and Clark campground. Lots of creeks and I don’t know which one this was. The roads were 373 and 451, both decent gravel roads. We encountered one other vehicle.
The Lochsa River along the Lolo Pass Highway. We camped by the Clearwater at Wild Goose campground then along the Lochsa at Whitehorse. We wanted to camp along the Selway but it was closed due to a rockslide. Campgrounds were half full.
Dent. Ridge across the Dworshak Reservoir. We drove the Elk River Backcountry Byway which was through clear cuts. We were not impressed. The bridge is the tallest in Idaho.
Camp site at McCroskey state park in Idaho. We could see into the Palouse of Washington and the forested hillsides of Idaho on the ridge. No one came through except a dirt biker. Very quiet and peaceful. Free.
