    Air Bags

With the plates I was thinking of a layer of UHMW or Teflon in between the steel. Very slippery. Yes, I agree the box and cap need not be rigidly attached to each other. The accordion seal is what I'm thinking right now. I am hoping to reuse whatever is there when I pull the sleeper off. My...

    Air Bags

To recap, I'm planning on getting a semi, removing the sleeper, putting a box on the back and pulling a trailer..... sort of like this: I'm thinking about putting the box on the back of the truck on air. Bags are relatively cheap. I do need a way to keep the box located. Plates with slots...

converting a c70 for towing trucks

There's a reason most HDT wreckers have a 260+ wheel base.

Here's a pretty nice one for sale

Interesting..... in as much that I wonder whether that's a sleeper cab that had it's rear wall cut out and somehow was connected to the "box"...and I wonder how that works....

    Qualifications

PA requires a class B for any vehicle over 26000, and a class A for a combination of vehicles over 26000 AND the trailer is over 10.000. All this has nothing to do with how it is registered. You can get a non-commercial Class A or B, all you have to do is show up with one at the DMV for a test...

    Thread Icons.....

It may be me.....(MACBook Pro, OSX 10.6.8 Safari 5.1.2) but the difference between a grey truck and a white truck, ie new posts in a thread, is BARELY, nay NOT visible. As a former admin on another forum I know there's something that can be done here......would that be possible? Thanks.

    Feedback Please

There's a repair shop down the street that does all my inspections. They collect waste oil and heat their shop with it in winter.....(never under 76º degrees in there.....:D) I have three five gallon buckets with lids that I collect in. When I get a big truck I'll get a drum with a pump.

    Box truck conversion

Thanks! Yesterday spent some time digging through the regulations and talking to a few people. It appears there's a LOT of RV'ers out there breaking the law, which fortunately is not enforced too much. But as many pointed out, if there is a mishap it becomes an issue. The box conversion is to...

    Box truck conversion

Think I've read the majority of what's on here between 09 and mid 11. Too bad the conversation fizzled somewhat at that point. Particularly like your sound deadening crusade. I know I'll be on one of those too, and it sounds like you've saved me a lot of research time. Right now I am in the...

    Box truck conversion

In the ongoing series "doodeling and dreaming" What I want is a max 30' truck with cab (9-10'), minimal living quarters for two (10') and the rest garage. Of course the only thing between me and a nice long meeting with a designer at a top grade conversion company is that minor matter of the...

How to stretch a Peterbilt 387 chassis- Questions

I am also a pilot (ATP), I also have some experience with sail boat design, where centers of forces are equally important. I also know that weight distribution on performance cars has a direct impact on handling. So, aside from the risk of overloading the front axle, I would also think that rear...

    12 volt generator?

I believe that as the amperage on alternators heads north of 50 single belts will start slipping. Double pulleys of greater quality are required. Remember all this from the marine world.

    Greetings from Eastern PA

Thanks guys.... It's a learning process, been through it many times before.....gather the info, figure it out, wait for a good deal and make a move. Hot Rod, that is the closest thing to what I want that I've seen so far. Can't tell how large the bunk is.......need one for two. I'll keep...

    Greetings from Eastern PA

Hi there, not new to forums, but new to this one, and THIS ONE is the one I've been looking for. The short version: I want a serious toterhome, big truck based, with a small living quarters, a cargo space and a 5er hitch to pull, say, a 40 foot trailer. Keep it all under 65 feet. (My state...
