    Air Bags Air Ride

I am not adding air bags, I am simply replacing one that is close to 28 yrs old and another that is somewhat newer that are already on the back/RV portion of my rig. It appears everything on the truck was well thought out/shop built....after 28 yrs, mostly parked, things need maintenance. As...

    swing out grill

I built a pull out grill set up. A set of heavy drawer glides welded to the interior of the box, I needed the full width of the door to make it work. I bolted an appliance lift to the guides with a shelf on the lift. The shelf has another set of glides to allow the grill to slide away form...

    Air Bags Air Ride

Well, it put up a valiant fight....but finally removed 28yrs worth of corrosion and crud...and one blown air bag. Based on the dimensions, Firestone has a bag that matches every dimension, bolt, air line, etc. but is a little taller. So I am replacing both rear bags (the functioning one was...

We have a winner...found a grey haired International mechanic and he confirmed remove screws on either side of the dash and the panel on top comes off. Tried the previous owner...no luck

    Air Bags Air Ride

I have a leaking bag on my rear axle. Unfortunately, International only has parts listings back to 1991, even on their tech line. I will pull them off, match the width, height and rating...hopefully it will be an easy find. Anyone have advice on which MFG to use? Tips? I plan on using the...

    Air Bags

We just returned from our first trip in the Pirate ship with the trailer carrying two landcruisers. Unfortunately, the last leg was challenged by a leaking air bag on the left rear. It would seem 28 yrs is a good life span, so we will be replacing both. Compressors were able to keep it...

7 brands of tires on my truck!

I didn't want to take any chances, so I put two Firestone 663's on the outer drives (the inners did not have any weather cracking.) Two, mounted taxes out the door $935

    Fuse block

This sounds crazy, but even the guys at International don't know where to find the fuse block on my cabover.....nobody old enough to remember them. I have tried all the usual places, kick panels, under dash, under cab...suggestions?

fortunately, the cab and the RV box are both aluminum. The stainless steel trim sets 1/2" off the cut edge of the aluminum skins to help avoid friction. I chose stainless trim because it is less reactive with the aluminum and will stand up to the traffic in and out of the sleeper. My...

    Drive Tires

The tread on the rears looks almost new. My inners look good and I only have a little dry rotting on the outers. From what I'm told, the date code on them is '94. Tire dealers start to shake when they hear that....this thing sat a whole lot more than it drove.

    Drive Tires

Narrowed down to the Firestone 663 and the Dunlop 431. I like an open shoulder on the drive tire. Does anyone have experience with either of these tires? How do they stack up?

temped in the accordion gasket...makes great square corners. Next, install the corner/end dams, then an exterior "rain cap"on the RV box to screen and hold insulation..the Texas summer could really warm up that stainless threshold.

Featherlite toyhauler on top of 24' box truck

Second on Racing Junk...that's where I found mine for about 2/3 of your budget. Having been through the experience of building up my Landcruisers, buying something close to what you want is WAAAAY more cost effective than building from scratch. Those $5 - $10 parts will add up quick, not to...

bolted in place, next I will install the end dams to make the corners (pre-drilled for ease of installation.) Temporary cardboard exterior sheathing shows in the pictures. Notice the gap between the cab and RV box is 1" wider at the top than the bottom (I aired up the system and with full...

I had 18 ga stainless steel brake metal pieces fabricated and ordered "extra wide accordion gasket" to bridge between the two parts The RV box wall is 2" thick and the cab wall is 1-1/4" The upturn "hemmed" leg is the lip for the gasket. The gasket is designed to go between a pickup window...

When I bought the rig, there was not passageway between the cab/sleeper and the RV box. I knew it would be one of the first projects...kids bopping back and forth during trips, utilizing the RV ac when stopped and just general access. After searching for a prefab product...I decided to take it...

    Drive Tires

I like and have considered the benefit of steer tires on the rear. I think in my case, we will drive on enough rough surface that a on/off road lug tire may be worth the effort. I can for the most part steer the front around rocks, but the rear end will inevitably catch a few. Having a rough...

Welcome aboard! From an insulating perspective, spray foam will be the best r-value/structural product. when you are ready, find a company doing a large warehouse project and offer to bring your truck to their location. They can do it at the end of the day saving set/clean up costs. We build...
