My 2 cents: A decoupler mat would help with the sound and give some air insulation as well. Sound travels through surfaces as much as pure air. A decoupler will usually have a hard vinyl sheet and closed cell foam layer. that combined with the hard surface the sound waves (noise) will be broken...

I had a cheap Chinese generator in the beginning and it couldn't handle the crappy roads on which I drive. it would stop after a bump, pop circuits for no reason, etc. I finally gave up and got a diesel RV gen set. having a gasoline bomb on the frame or the truck wasn't appealing either.

I would do it again and this time I would get the heat pump. I have one inch expanded foam in my walls and ceiling and decoupled padding under the carpet. *note* don't use Styrofoam. it will squeak to no end and drive you nuts.

If that was me, it was a typo. I can get 12mpg on flat ground hwy. On this last trip we checked it again. We figured it with hwy, city, hills, traffic, and the generator sucking on the same tank nonstop. With all that we still got 10mpg. I was amazed. We did over 1500 miles on 2 tanks of fuel.
