where did you the slide brackets? by the way, you are doing a great job in short amount of time.

    Excessive wind noise

Bob, you are correct. One of the downfalls of a Freightliner is the noisy cab. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the Freightliner. The doors, floor and ceiling can be dealt with, but the large windshield is just something we are stuck with. (excuse the grammar). The local car stereo store will try...

    Martin diesel generators

Well I was trying to help an Ohio small business (like myself) and that didn't pay off. I sure couldn't treat my customers that way. Gordy, I appreciate the offer, but I have an Onan QD6000 on the way. I think it has a Kubota 3 cylinder in it.

    building a bigger bedroom

there is a closet in the corner. its actually a wardrobe from Ikea. The door to the back is homemade. I used to have a home door to the back and it fell apart constantly. This time I studded the wall with the appropriate space for a door, then walled the whole thing on the back side. I went back...

    Martin diesel generators

Honda makes a good generator, no doubt about that. They don't make a diesel though. The top piston ring broke and they said that was not a warranty-able repair. They accused me of too much and too little oil, wrong types of fuel, bad installation, everything they could think of.

    Martin diesel generators

Well, repair seems futile, I ordered an Onan QD6000 today. I expect Cummins will honor its warranty a little better.

    Martin diesel generators

18 months ago I bought a gen set from these guys. I was happy to buy from a fellow Ohio company.... until I started using it. The motor is a Yanmar engine, so I expected quality from the company as well as the engine. To make a long story short, after 18 months of trouble with this thing, it...

    building a bigger bedroom

the water pump and such had to be reconfigured to fit the new futon/bed. The water heater has an extended cover that is strong enough to stand on it.

    building a bigger bedroom

well I got the wall moved. It went from a 30" wide bunk to a 6' by 8' room. Next is the full size futon. I actually got some help from my wife. I got a good one!

    building a bigger bedroom

from one bunk and expanding sofa to double bed, bunk, and an expanding sofa in the front. Since I moved the closet to the back, the next thing will be either two sofas or a sofa and a dinette in the front .... but that's getting ahead of myself. :) These pics are from the hall looking back. All...

    building a bigger bedroom

Since my family has started to travel with me, I have decided to build a bigger bedroom and take up some of the storage space in the back. All I had before was a single bunk. I am expanding it to a full size and a bunk overhead. I will start posting pictures soon. Wish me luck!

    graphics allowed on motorhome

I think I may have told this before, but I will keep it short. A gospel singer friend of mine got in an accident with their tour bus. The honest truth is that they use this bus to transport their family to the concerts. The day after the wreck, he went down to check on the bus and there was...

    Motorcoach not for hire?

Legally the sign means nothing. It does make a statement to a DOT official that you are a private coach. I have had DOT officials follow me and after getting to my door sign, turn around and go back. Back in the day of driving tour bus coaches, I was told in certain states that the police...

you're in a grey area here. In Ohio, I was told that if I put my company name on it anywhere, it would have to be commercial. If you are trying make it a RV badge, you might slip through the grey area. It would need to mimick other RV badges. You might also need to have your title concur with...

    New to site. Converstion question.

Truck Conversion & Toterhome Community - Search Results try this and see if that helps. I had a Golden Eagle (if you remember those). They ride like a dream, but don't fit my needs at this time. I carry some large pieces at times and also have to traverse construction sites. Eagles are too low...

    New to site. Converstion question.

I don't think you will need a class 8 truck and engine. A business class truck will give you plenty of power and still have decent fuel mileage. I would recommend that you look at some of my posts in the building of my truck Grande Rojo. I originally built it for about 20k including buying the...

    Painting a car trailer?

A LOT OF WORK! if you can get past that, it is possible. I prepped my truck for painting and let me tell you. its a lot more than you would think. Get a quote from a truck painting shop.

    roof wing?

I went to a truck yard and found a roof fairing off of a junked truck. I took it home and cut it down to the size I needed for my truck. After that, I welded a new support system together and mounted it to the fairing. I then lined it up to the truck cab to line up the holes I made in my custom...

ebay bid rejected! to damned scary ?

I know there are plenty reputable people on Ebay, but I used it twice .... got screwed both times. Sellers (supposedly) had all the right qualifications and whatnot too. It took the FBI to get my money back the last time. I would say you had a scammer on the line as well. Feel good you got off...

    Cliff & Wendy saying hello

first welcome, secondly, I come from the bus coaches and moved to TC. The 2 stroke Detroits aren't so bad. As with all this stuff. It depends on your needs. I had a Silver Eagle with the 871 that would hum at 65+ mph and got incredible mileage. Great road bus, but I wouldn't want to drive short...

A newbie getting bit by the dog

What I did before converting my truck was to go online and check out toy haulers. Both motorized and trailered. look at their setups and then draw out your own. You can go to RV surplus sites and find the furnishing you want and plot out a budget for your project. If you don't have tons of money...

    Opinions: XM Antenna

I'm using a motorola mirror mount mushroom looking thing. I don't know its model, but its about 12 inches tall and it never drops out. I used to get lots of drop zones in the Appalachians, and now I get no drops. I put mine pretty far out on the mirror to give it the best line of sight with...

    Box truck conversion

i am contemplating building an attic for my kids. they have started traveling with me some. It would take some creative structuring to support attic. I also want to move the back wall about 4 feet. I'll have to organize tools and such to minimize the garage space.
