    White or Full Body Paint

Personally, I like the colors on a rig, but as far as solid colors, White usually will show less dust then high pigment colors. Mine is red because it came that way, but if I paint it, I'll stay with the red. Doc Weaver

I am so sick of snow. The big red truck has 18" of snow on the hood.

New here, but hoping to find some ideas...

LOL!!! The problem I had with cab over trucks is the flat front. They kill fuel mileage and highway speed. The one I had (non-converted) was like pushing a garage door down the road. That aside, there are some who have done it. Doc Weaver

    overcab bunk

The problem we had with coils is that they tend to bounce if you're sleeping while on the road. If you only sleep while parked, that shouldn't be a concern. Doc Weaver

Roofer, BBF is right on the money. I bought a FL60 24' straight truck w/53k on it for $9K. I spent about $11k into the conversion (parts). If your willing to put in the sweat, you too can have a decent truck for $20k. There are lots of threads here to guide you, and if you have a specific...

starting a medium duty puller buildup

DJ, I agree that the 4700 ride rough. I also agree about COE. I used to drive Silver Eagles and MCIs. The view is comfortable to drive. The only question I have is: I had an ISUZU NPR and it was awesome in town, but the flat nose killed my fuel mileage in the highway. Does the FSR do any better...

Firmani99, I have a 96 Tahoe and have run LT265/70/16 BFG TA KO for almost 70k miles. I just put another set on yesterday. They are supposedly as big as you can get without any rub problems (including tight turns, big bumps, etc). They aren't cheap, but they are well worth it. My truck has 174k...

About the frames.....I know you are not supposed to weld the frames, so does that disallow the use of a plasma cutter to cut the frame? If so, how do you cut such a hard piece of steel? Doc Weaver

I used "liquid tight" on my truck. It's much easier to work with than stiff conduit. We use it in our church AV installs as well. If it doesn't need to be waterproof, Parts Expresshas all sorts of wire loom. We use that too. Doc Weaver

    45 vs. 46 footer

Radman, I was in Mississippi or Arkansas (somewhere out that way) and in my mirror I see a DOT racing up the middle lane. He comes right up to the side of me......pauses....then pulls off. I guess he realized I was not a commercial truck. I was on my way too an afternoon like yours. Doc Weaver

    Freightliner FL60,70,80 -- owner reviews?

My truck is just that (FL60, Cummins, 6-speed). As far as maintenance, I have had no issues. I picked the cummins on purpose though. The CAT option was very loud. The FL series don't have much sound insulation. If I can ever get time, I'm going to add noise protection to the cab. The 6-speed is...

    Shocks?

He described it as cutting the lower leafs to make a kind of mounting block. I believe his idea is to remove the help that the shorties supply without actually removing the leaf, thus giving more travel and less support. Let me know how it goes. Doc Weaver

    Shocks?

Bob, That's what I thought. Mine didn't come with rear shocks either. I'm gonna channel my inner hillbilly (with some welding tools) and rectify that situation. If you hadn't noticed yet, I'm not afraid to try and fix anything. This is not always a good thing. A little fear might have kept me...
