    Generator batteries

I have a separate battery for the generator:reasoning, if the truck batteries go dead, I can use the battery charger (connected to the generator) to start the truck. If the generator battery goes dead, then I can jump off the truck batteries. I have thought about unifying the battery system, but...

    School Bus conversion????

Yeah, I bought a truck with 53k miles on it for $9k and put $11k in the conversion (and a lot of sweat). For 20 grand I have been running Rojo all over the nation. Besides, most school buses ride horrible. If you find one that is air ride, most of the time the front is still leaf springs. The...

    New Guy

I went all electric as well. including an electric toilet. I went for the easiest way of travel. I don't have to find a propane dealer, or a dump station. I don't stay in RV campsites, so all I need is electricity, either generator or shore power.

    New Guy

Welcome Sandman. You'll find good info and kind members here. I built my TC on the information I gathered from this site. I've had the displeasure of driving traditional RVs myself. The power and control of a TC will soon have you grunting like Tim Taylor. :)

    New guy...

when I was traveling in entertainer coaches (buses), the worst place to be was in the back room. the engine was deafening. I sleep in the back of the truck all the time. What are crews for :)

    XM Radio for Freightline Columbia

many if not all of the new units have a small radio transmitter in them. That would allow him to tune to a specific channel on FM and pick up the XM. I have a dock in both of my trucks and take the radio to which ever one I'm driving. One is through a 3.5mm aux input and the other truck has an...

    Smooth "er" springs

Dodger, the ride is palatable. It doesn't ride like a air bag bus, but it does rides as good as a regular RV. Put it this way; the curtains aren't falling off the wall anymore.

    What's a Stealth Camper Worth?

My advice - just an opinion - is to look on the internet for what you would be satisfied with if the stealth camper were totaled. Obviously be reasonable. you are in the same boat as me. I didn't spend that much (comparatively) as some of the other contributors, but you and I both have a lot of...

    Smooth "er" springs

the quote I got was $6k....and dsuban was cheap. I think if I can get the rebound controlled by some good shocks, it will be quite improved.

    Bluetooth Full Head Set

I have had quite a few bluetooth single ear sets, but I have never used the stereo blue tooth. The last one I bought was a "cheaper" device. I hate it. The noise control ends up cutting out and breaking up. I've had two Motorola, two Jawbone, and the one I have now is a Jabra. My advice would be...

    Smooth "er" springs

I had my first distance trip with the new springs. Its not like air ride, but it is a major difference. Basically the back rides as good as the front. Definitely worth $400. Now I need some shocks. Any suggestions?

I can't figure out the picture in the post thing, but if you want to see the springs and air foil, go to my member gallery.

    Smooth "er" springs

I'll get some up soon. I was hoping to have it painted first, but paint is going to have to wait. Between money and the soon coming winter, I just didn't have the time.

    Smooth "er" springs

They pulled 2 leaves from the middle. cut them down to the size of a spacer and reloaded the leaves. Something about adding flex to the package, but not putting all the weight on the long springs. Don't want to break a spring. I didn't do anything to the hood yet, but i did add a wind deflector...

    Smooth "er" springs

My truck's rear leaf springs are way to strong for the weight I carry. SO I had Dsuban springs pull a couple leafs and add a couple spacers. The result: definite improvement! The back end of the truck was so stiff that it was like riding a hard tail Harley. Now there is some flex in the...

    Mirror Adjustment?

good advice Bob. I depend on the convex mirrors so much, that I miss them when I'm driving a car. I have bigger blind spots in my wife's Saab. I don't think she would let me put two big Dome mirrors on it.

    Tire Pressue

I used to know a guy in Atlanta that made up this concoction of silicone and mineral spirit, that he would put on tires. The mineral spirits would clean the tire and open the pores, then the silicone would absorb into the tire, then the mineral spirits would evaporate. This mixture would keep...

    Looking at a E450

Mine is vented right out the back and through the wall. I used a dryer vent with flaps, as to keep the outside out. I have also seen people vent it out the roof.

    Tire Pressue

Bob, I am a big believer in the proper inflation for the job at hand. If you look at the door jamb on most cars, they will have a psi for different weights (depending on passengers etc). under/over inflation can wear out the tires too quickly. Under can wear out the sides, but over can cup the...

    Windows

I called Kinro.com directly. The RV industry is still starving and the manufactures will sell to anyone. As far as cutting into your trailer, I used two methods: 1) die grinder to cut the outside skin 2) strong SawZall to cut studs. I'm not afraid to try to do anything (not always a good...

    It lives!

The best drill bits I used were the Bosch bits. I'm sure there are plenty of good bits, that's just a brand that worked for me. I tried the cheap bits and went through three bits per hole. That does not equate to cheap. Obviously, make sure you use cutting oil.
