I found an Onan Emerald for $475.00 at the local RV shop that I buy some parts from. I don't know how many hours are on it. Any ideas on how to evaluate it or if anyone has experience with this model.

out of shear finances, i went with a gasoline generator. they have serious drawbacks: fumes must be run far away from any living area, air cooled only, two fuels, no remote, and i swear gas is louder than diesel. The drawback to diesel is 5 times the cost. My advice is to go diesel if you can...

the home depot software seems to be a good idea. I used freeware like that to estimate building a recording studio in my home. It was't perfect, but it gave me an idea of cost. When I built the truck, I used pencil and paper, and most importantly..my wife...she has two math degrees :-D
