    Box truck conversion

Oscarvan, you should check out my posts through the years. I built a truck very much like what you're describing. My total to date (including the truck and customizing) was under $30k. I learned a lot from the forum and from personal experience. After reading through my posts, if you wish, PM me...

    built in air conditioner.

Mine is a Friedrich mini split and has bounced all over the nation. I am using one for the front half of my box (back half storage) and it works great. True Dat: have tech install it. secure lines WELL give it air (keep it away from your generator)

    built in air conditioner.

I have been using a mini-split style system for the very same reason ie:height. I had mine installed by a home HVAC friend of mine. It works great. The only advice I would add would be to secure all lines tightly. We had a few leaks in the begining, because these AC units are not designed to...

    Bluebird made overloaded rv's? Shocking.

I've been told there is a guy here in Cincy, actually Harrison, that makes some of the best to bars for buses. A friend of mine that has owns three Silver Eagles right now told me of this.

    toterhome build

I have a fl60 with the ISB Cummins/ 6 speed, and I have no problem with power. I have been told the computer can be upgraded for more power. You might see if the CAT can be upgraded from someone who knows. The FLs ride better than most class 6, but they are loud .... and the CATs are very loud...

    generator woes

I bought a diesel from Martin Diesel ... after the Onan took a dive. The diesel is a little louder than the gas, but it uses the same fuel tank and is less dangerous than gas. Most of all it has a warranty! I like it

    Insurance for mtd

The key to our insurance with State Farm was 2 fold: talking to somebody at State Farm with an ounce of intelligence, and getting the FL60 a new title as a motor home. State Farm will insure motor homes.

some dress to go with the new paint

@ blizz - thanks for the props. I think I can quit dressing it now. ...... we will see. :) @ 90 - $325 for the grille and another buck for the bug shield. That was the same price for the factory grille (plastic) check them out I talked to Taylor, and he was pretty helpful. Raney's Truck Parts...

some dress to go with the new paint

After painting the truck, the cracked plastic grille was just too ugly. I replaced the plastic with a stainless louvered grille ... and while I was at it, I put on a stainless bug shield. The company was Raneys in Ocala FL. They were priced lower than many others and the parts seem to be well...

    In the paint booth

I got a whole dissertation on truck paint vs auto paint. Best I can come up with is how many time you have to coat it. ie: three coats of auto paint or two heavy coats of truck paint. Anyhow, it was BASF Limco single stage urethane (auto paint) and yes I would use it again. It took 4 gallons to...

thanks Andy. Look behind you next time you pass a generic RV with that truck. they will be doing everything they can to keep it on the road from the wind you made.

    In the paint booth

well in my opinion, most conversions are better looking than many of the mainstream RVs. I don't care. there are plenty of RV parks that need money and don't care what you drive. :) I used to own and drive entertainer coaches, and now drive trucks. Mainstream Class A RVs may camp well, but they...
