Henderson State park in Destin Florida is amazing. At least it was exactly what I was looking for and needed. As most of you know, I use the truck for living on site when working out of town. I'm not much of a camper. The spaces were so private that you couldn't see any other campers. To be on...

Featherlite toyhauler on top of 24' box truck

I've seen where people have put a trailer on a class 6. they're kinda odd but functional. Look who's talking, right? :) Those toy haulers are pretty tall. how tall would that be on a class 6.7.8? Mine is 12.5 feet and that gives me problems at times. The wheels on that trailer are probably 15"...

I finally got Rojo's new paint sealed and waxed because I'm headed south this weekend. I sure don't want that red paint to turn pink again. We're headed to Destin FL for some beach time. It'll be nice to go somewhere with no work on the docket, and my wife gets to go with me .... like I could...

Are we still doing this? I didn't know if we stopped the thread or just stopped going places.

Do I have to have a DOT?

legally "Private Coach, not for hire" means nothing, but most DOT will leave you alone. That said, Bob is right. There are Barney officers out there looking for those stickers... and they will use all the grey areas of DOT regs to antagonize you. I was told that you cannot put company names...

Suggestion on how to make a few bucks for your gas

I'm not sure it would be worth the risk. If DOT catches you, they will lower the boom on you for more than fines. they will also make you run DOT numbers, insurance, commercial tags, CDL etc even when you are just driving for fun.

Help-SOS need conversion and titling Info, Ca

in ohio you have to sign a paper stating the requirements. I would go to the DMV and ask for such a paper. that would at least tell you what they were requiring.

for #90's sake, here is the boat. :) The other two pics are the result of a short driveway. i had to pull into the overhang of the garage. Not fun at 2AM.

    And so the adventure begins.

From purchase of the truck to its current painted state, I have about $23500 in Rojo. There will always be unexpected extras, ie: things that break, fabrications you didn't count on, hoops you have jump through to keep it safe or legal, etc.

Meandering My Way Into a Project.

20 years ago "private not for hire" protected you from search, but that got changed. It most reasonable states (OH and WV not included), its only purpose is to save officials time from chasing you down and finding out you are an RV. Legally it means nothing. ODOT officers still do inspections...

Im confused as to why PUCO would be interested in your vehicle if it is not part of a commercial carrier company. PUCO conducts audits, inspections, and safety reviews to evaluate motor carriers’ safety records, policies, and procedures. ODOT is in charge of all motor vehicles in Ohio. Puco...

Actually if the rig was owned by a company (mine or others) then it would be commercial, whether it had tools or not. A personal vehicle (rv, pickup, or smart car) can have tools in it without being commercial. I don't carry any "for sale" gear on purpose. We drop ship everything as to follow...

I talked personally to the Ohio clerk of Courts and she told the DMV lady what to do. From the actual person in charge, you may carry tools in your TC/RV for work to be done away from home and still be considered consumer. If you carry anything that you exchange for money (ANYTHING) you are a...

    And so the adventure begins.

Years ago when I was traveling in bus coaches with bands, there was no #2 in the toilets. This was where the term "bagging one" came about. You would put the biodegradable garbage bag over the toilet seat. do your business. slow down the bus and sling it onto the shoulder. It would disturb you...

    And so the adventure begins.

Well I didn't have a door at all on the side, I just bought a door and took a Sawzall to the wall. One side note; I got my door used off of a travel trailer. The trailer had been in an accident and I got the door for less than $100. Personally, I would fabricate a new locking mech for the...

I went through three different generators before I bought a Martin Diesel generator. I have been very pleased with them. Mine is a little louder than the gas gens, but no trouble is worth a little noise.
